Default Infiniti and Nissan

Hello all.

As you may tell from my username I am from the UK and have had my 6MT coupe for about seven months now.

I am to relocate back to the UK in the next few months and wish to take my car with me.

One of my main concerns is servicing the car. I know that Infiniti and Nissan are sister companies but am wondering how much of the 6MT coupe's parts are Nissan. Is the car made from the same engine parts as the 350Z etc? I understand that body parts are going to have to be relocated from the States.

Any help/comments greatly appretciated.

Hi UK.

As far as the engine goes, the VQ35 is an engine that is used in many a Nissan, so it's not really a problem getting parts for it.

Infiniti and Nissan are not sister companies. Infiniti is a rebadged Nissan here in the US. The marketers change the name and jack up the price. Same goes for Acura/Honda and Lexus/Toyota.

The problems that I can see you running into are those related to you having a left hand drive car in Europe. If the majority of the cars around you are right hand drive then there could be compatibility issues.

I agree with that too. GZire is right. The VQ35 engine is all the same. It's on the Gs, Zs, Maximas, Altimas, I35 (Nissan Maxima in Europe) and so on. There was a guy from Germany here on the forum who was saying that having HID xenon light without having headlight wipers is a problem in Europe.

GZire, you mean the problem is having a left hand drive car in the UK (Ireland too), right? Don't confuse the British Isles with Continental Europe (right hand drive - left hand drive)

I was thinking UK was taking his left hand drive car over to the British Isles (are those guys right or left?). Any way if the cars over there are right hand drive, then his left hand drive car may have issues with parts availability.

If I remember correctly, there is a dealer in Birmingham, and Southhampton (prior residence) Perhaps you can find one close to your area, and speak with a representative. If I'm not mistaken, the website should be www.nissan.co.uk

There are that many countries in the world?... And twice as many driving on the other side!!!... How can we ever unite?! And are there more countries? -- maybe some that are LHD and left-driving; some that are RHD and right-driving... and some that doesn't have cars?

GZire, allow me to disagree with you LHD vs RHD vehicles does nothing to do with metric vs. english units system. But I see what you're saying. It's more like British (Empire) driving habits vs. the rest of the world driving habits.

BTW, the metric system is definitely better than the english one.

All the drugs in the world couldn't help me learn the imperial system so I'm glad we went metric.

Cheers for all the help guys

Oh My God! I hope they have laws against passing on two lane roads. I had done that before here when I worked on some Japanese cars. It's a nightmare!
