Default Aluminum Pedals and New Shift Knob

I just got a set of new pedals (manual) and the Nismo GT Shift Knob. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get the clutch/brake pedals on and how to remove the throttle.

Also, for my shift knob, there is about a 1/2 inch gap between the bottom of the shift knob and the top of the leather. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

I used a little WD-40 on the clutch and brake pedal, they slipped on fairly easy then. The throttle is more of a challenge. There is a clip on the underside you will need to undo that is hard to see. I unbolted the linkage from the firewall so I could turn the pedal over to get a better view of the clip.

Can not advise you about the shift knob, dholly may have some advice for you. May need to post some pictures as well.

Good Luck...

I posted something in the last two weeks about the shift knob problem. You need a ballcock shank washer from Home Depot to fill in the space.

You can do a search for more detailed info.

As far as the pedals are concerned...I'm going to assume that you bought the Nissan/Infiniti pedals(Rubber pedals with aluminum on them).

If this is the case, you'll want to heat up the pedals with either a hair dryer or a heat gun prior to installing each one. Then use a couple of screwdrivers to work the flaps of the new pedals over the metal from the pedal plate. You'll have to spend some time working with this, cus it's not too easy to get. Get a small mirror of some sort(I borrowed one of my sisters small makeup mirrors), and lay it on the floor of your car beneath the pedals so you can see what's going on in the hard to see areas behind your pedal plates.

You'll get the hang of how to work the new pedal covers on after messing with it for a bit. Basicly what you want to do, is to heat up each pedal...then try to squish 2 out of the 4 adjacent sides of the pedal over the pedal plate...then use the screwdrivers to incrementally pull over the rest of pieces of the flaps onto the back side of the pedal plate.

Good luck.

I have the willow interior and i tucked the boot under the knob.

i lifted the boot up and took the plastic round piece underneath the boot off. i then pulled the boot up and zip tied it to the new bolt thingy that came with the new knob. i then put the new knob over it and tightened the allen screw down. here is the end result.

That looks to be the little plate that mounts to the top of the shift knob. It gives the general gear layout for the transmission.
