Default Interesting Reading

I haven’t been around on this forum for a long time, but I get a feeling that there have been a few threads that have come along that some of you may have not seen or may be able to benefit from. I’ll go ahead and post them and you can draw whatever conclusions from them you like. Be prepared for a bit of reading.

Central Florida Dyno Day (5-24-2004)

Golden Gate Dyno Day (8-16-2004)

So-Cal Dyno Day (9-4-2004)

UR Underdrive Crank Pulley Debate (must register to read)

These are just a few of my favorite threads. The next time someone tells you a z-tube will give you 15rwhp, you can direct them to the above dyno day threads.

Cool- Thanks!

Browsing folder contents of one of those sites I found the wheel sizing guide which includes info about offset. I was just looking for this info too...

the golden gate one doesnt show the numbers.

but I am guessing people saw real gains from TS ECU

which is why I am waiting to see Uni-chip come out with our ECU upgrade. That should be interesting.

Actually I posted the WRONG link to the So Cal dyno day. The entire link is here... So-Cal Dyno Day, Entire Thread and Comments. If you digest this you will see that the comparison between the So-Cal Dyno Day and the Central FL Dyno Day can be made rather simplistically (thanks to stock G35's being present at both). You'll have to scroll down about 3/4 of the way to see the numbers. The gist of the calculations are to take a stock G35, dyno it and compare its results to Nissan's claim of 280bhp. By doing this you can compare different dynos at different times at different places on different days, etc... None of the variables are constant from dyno to dyno, but the variables from RUN TO RUN on the same day, on the same dynos are what's important. The simple calculation is all that's needed for the relatively accurate comparison, as you can see in the content of the link provided above.

This goes to show that the High Flow Cats, Plenum and Z-Tube are the cheapest 3 NA mods to do that produce the BEST results... Clint added the DC Headers and the Fujitsubo Exhaust and only dynoed about 3 bhp higher than I did by comparison (w/o those mods). That's a bit of money to spend on 3bhp...

Oh yeah, the TS ECU didn't appear to make a difference, by comparison, at all.

so basically you could get the crawford plenum and cats and get the numbers they claimed? they claim 40hp at redline from headers + the two other items.

I honestly believe this to be the case. This is why my next mod will be the CRAWFORD HEADERS. I've also decided to get them "jethot" coated for an additional $200-ish.

Doug is one of the few people in this industry who does not lie about performance products and dyno gains. Also, did you know about his new Cam and Head porting project? It's kind of a secret, but I had a 15 minute conversation with him several weeks ago and got permission to post the information about his project. We're talking a radical new cam profile and head porting to go along with the package. Doug is hoping for 300rwhp NA when he's finished!!! He already installed the cams and ported the heads. He's also already driven and dynoed the car and the gains have been reported as being VERY impressive (official numbers have not been released as of yet). The only thing to do now is figure out how to make the ECU work with these mods...

As far as headers are concerned I got one question. Is anybody able to say if there's a significant influence on engine/exhaust noise and everyday driveability?
