Default Best Value for Intakes / Pop Chargers ?

I'm looking for a Christmas present for my G
It's actually for me.. I think I will invest in an intake and a grouding kit.
I saw a combo on Performance Nissan site that includes the Z tube and JWT Pop Charger with Heatshield for $ 189.95 (Seperately they are $195)
So I guess it's not much of a sale, but this is much cheaper than all the other CAI's on there. What do you guys think? Is that a good way to go, anyone has this setup can please give me some feedback

An intake's an intake. Don't expect any phenomenal performance gains.

I have the stillen cai and ztube. I didn't anything expect other than that I knew it would have a slightly more aggressive growl.

If you're looking for a bad ass sounding intake, Injen or Nismo.
One of the reasons that made me stay away from these two is access to the filter when it needs a cleaning and the other is hydrolock. I don't trust the filter being so close to the ground especially a day when there's heavy rain.

As for the grounding wires, my experience will tell you to stay away from them. Save your money for something worthwhile. My wire's are worthless, however, they add a nice touch to the engine bay. However, I did hear 5AT drivers swear that it made their cars shift smoother.(shrugging shoulders)

The one for $189 is the ZTW, anyone has that setup.
Thanks Dizz, I don't really care about the growl, I love the sound of the G as it is.. I was hoping for a little more punch for litlle $$

Oh... In that case...

I heard that a plenum will get you some gains.

Typo.. I meant JWT..

Why does JWT refer to this as a Pop Charger while Nismo's is called
a CAI.. I know this was covered many times before, but I still don't get it.. Is there any difference??

- I have the Injen CAI and i love it. I like how it looks under the hood. As far as gains you shouldnt expect to much from just an intake but you will notice a different tone to the car. If you want to dress up for engine then i would go with a CAI. Even though it cost more than a JWT Pop charger it look a lot cleaner. If you need any prices on any CAI let me know please send me a PM and also send me a PM regarding the JWT Prices to. Thanks

The pop charger is NOT a cold air intake. Basically its a filter with an air shield. From what I've heard it doesn't even seal well and you actually end up sucking in the hot air from your engine compartment. I've seen some jury-rig a better seal, but it still doesn't perform as good as what we already have stock.

Go Z-tube with a freer flowing air filter, or go legitimate CAI. Most of the intake changes are only for sound changes, like Dizz is saying, performance gains are very small.

Thanks for all of you.
After reading many threads and researching the subject,
1. My main goal is HP gain at a small price, not sound
2. Pop Charger is out
3. Real CAI is too $ and according to you guys does not give that much increase in power anyway
4. I think I will stick with the K&N drop in filter I have and just add a Z tube
5. Decision now is whether to go for the OEM Z tube, or one of these carbon fiber ones, they make them for the G and the Z, so basically I have three choices.
There is a link to this Carbon fiber Z tube in a recent thread
Please help me decide !!
I still can't get a unanimous opinion on the grounding kit

Rami,

There will be many mixed opinions on grounding wires.
I have to stick to my guns and say they haven't done a damn thing for my G other than pretty up the engine bay.

As for the Ztube, that'll be your call whether or not to go the CF or the OEM Nissan one. IMO, I'd just go with the regular plastic joint.

You've repeated that performance is what you're seeking...
Go with the plenum or my friend has the UR pulley.

He actually let me drive his car so he I could see the gain.
I'll just say that I was impressed. His car felt lighter and zippier than my car.

If I ever get to that point to where I want to mod my car for performance, I'd start with the pulley, then on to the plenum, headers then exhaust.
Good luck.

p.s.
Since you said your cash is tight, hold off on the grounding wires unless you really want them that bad, you can buy mine. I have no problem of the letting them go... That's how good they are.

That was not a very good sales pitch.. Now I don't want them
I will save my money and just get the Z tube for now..
Is the APS plenum out yet??
Again, thanks for all the help..
I've been wanting to meet you guys for a while, when is the next so-cal meet, I know the thing that Princess was putting together got cancelled

Just a FYI, these weren't the bullshit grounding wires that you seen in ebay for like 20 bucks.

I won't mention what brand they are, but they are some what reputable.
A friend of mine bought them and installed them for me.
When I first got them, I really wanted to believe that were doing something, but the only thing I noticed was that the idle was slightly smoother and that's pretty much it.

Save your cash and get the good shit.
Look into that pulley, I was definitely impressed.

Dizz, do you have the 5AT or 6MT.

For me, I drive my car every single day at 2~3000RPM range, and the difference was more than obvious, the feeling of the car accelerating smoothly as compared from before. Far as the cold air intake, perfomance wise I cant say exactly, but it didnt even make the engine louder, it did however made the exhaust tone different, it sounds like its no longer restricted. (nismo exhaust)

There difference is there, but its up to you whether or not its worth it to get it.

- The APS Plenum isnt out yet. From what i hear they actully delayed the release on the APS Plenum.

- Couple of my friends have the ground wires on there G35 and they said that the idle got a lot smoother and the shift knob doesnt vibrate as much from the start. But actully they arent used for power gains they are used for engine dress up. But if you dont like the idle then you should get the ground wires.

Ivory, I have a 6MT.
Under normal circumstances, I usually shift between 2 and 3k also.

As I said earlier, the only thing that I noticed was that it seemed slightly smoother at idle.
