So, I am not the highest guy up in the corporate ladder
Probably closer to the bottom actually ..
The only way I can afford my Coupe was leasing + I am not married, no kids and no mortgage..
But every time I roll into the parking structure at my work place, and there are familiar faces having a smoke, I feel like they are all staring and probably thinking either: "I didn't know he makes that much money"
or even worse: "How can this punk be driving a car like that? "
Either way, bragging rights come standard with the coupe.. but i am not sure that I am comfortable with all the stares

i am the second youngest in the office and probably the only one without a 4 yr college education (except for some of the old-time managers).
YES everyone looks at my car when i drive in and drive out. everyone always asks about it - especially when i got it in September. to one group, i am known as "G35" lol.
and the best is a few weeks ago, this lady i work with came up to my car as i was parked outside waiting for a friend and said, "i just love the way your car puurrs when you drive away"
hahaha I LOVE IT!!

Why does it bother you, or make you feel uncomfortable?
You think they're gonna egg you?
Sounds like someone's got some personal issues.
Chill man. U got a smokin ride.
I'm the youngest person at work. Except for the part time receptionist who's in Junior College. I've got a fully loaded G. I get plenty of stares and looks from people smoking outside. Plenty of people from different departments ask me about the car, how i like it... yada yada.
Let haters hate, and make friends with those who appreciate your ride.
I'm also with the "If you've got it, flaunt it" mentality.
You only live once. Make it worth while. Don't mess with other people's lives, but live an enjoyable life.
Take it easy.
Unless you have Obssessive Compulsive Disorder like me, then you have no choice but to be paranoid about your car.

I totally agree with Dizz. I haven't got my coupe yet (05 6mt on order) But when i went for a test drive I had hot chicks in Mercedes staring. The salesman even agreed people stare at this car.
At 35 years old, I am the youngest of my co-workers by at least 10 years.
I don't have my degree either, but I am back in college at UAB here in Birmingham.
I too am not married, no kids, no debt outside my mortgage. Some where OK with the 03 G 6MT sedan 2 years ago. The 04 Boxster really pushed them over the edge. Now that I have the 04 G 6MT coupe they don't know what to think.
What's even better, I can show up to work with 1 of 3 other new vehicles I own: a new 03 Honda Gold Wing, 04 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon or the SO's 04 Santa Fe.
Some you guys are 10-15 years my junior and have new G's. You only live once, enjoy it while you can. Just let the bitter, complacent, negative, 10 times divorced with 10+ kids, buried in debt bitches look down the end of their noses at you. All of that negativity and lack of self motivation is probably why they are driving a beat up used Kia or some domestic relic from the early 80's. They burn up more energy fussing about you and starting stuff in the office over doing what it takes to get to the next level.
I just love to see how long it takes for the new of my latest puchase to circulate through the office. It usually takes about 30 minutes to get across the county and back.
If you're at a place in life where you can have a G and not break the bank, more power to ya. and ditto on Dizz's comment.

I was going to add this as well.
I mean, if you're able to afford a G, you've got to be doing something or someone right.
Be proud... but don't be arrogant, cuz that'll give someone a reason to key or damage your ride.
You guys are absolutely right..
The G definetely did not break my bank, I actually pay less on my G's lease than I used to on my Honda Prelude Loan payment..
Plus, I am a car freak.. Having a nice car is more important to me than the average person.. I will not hesitate to drive the car i want as long as I can afford even before I save enough money for a downpayment on a house..
Maybe my priorities will change if I ever get married
I too was called "the guy with the nice car" by this really hot chick when I first got the car.. I don't have any issues, I just don't like people to think that I am a show off !! I got this car because I love it, and I knew I was going to have one since the first time I saw a picture of a prototype back in 2000 or 01 !!!

I am 27 by the way.. work at a software company, a lot of very young people.. Out of the 400 + cars in the structure, my Coupe is probably the 4th nicest car only behind:
Porsche 911 (president of the company)
Merc CLK 55 AMG
BMW M5

I can relate. At 22 I owned an 02' BMW 330ci, at 23 I owned an 03' BMW M3, and now at 25, I own an 04' G35 coupe. Co-workers always give that wide-eyed look with the, "where does he find the cash to get those cars" look on their face. I love it.

When I was 19 in San Francisco, I had 2 vintage 1969 911's a new 1990 Honda Pacific Coast Motorcycle (800cc v-twin) and a new 1989 Buick Regal Gran Sport.
Around all of the new stuff, I had some cool older cars, countless Audis and VWs and Porsches
At 28 I bought my 2nd new car a 1998 Chrysler Sebring JXI Convertible
At 31 I bought my mom a 2001 Toyota Camry LE
At 32 I bought my 3rd new car a 2003 G356MT Sedan
At 33 my 4th and 5th new were my 04 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and my 03 Honda Gold Wing
At 34 my 6th and 7th new car a 2004 Porsche Boxster and a 2004 Santa Fe for the fiancee
At 35 my 8th new car, another Infiniti an 04 6MT Coupe.
the 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th are still in the garage.
When I graduate UAB (at 39 years old) is when I will buy a new red 911 S as a present to myself (keeping a G at the house of course).
There are plenty of successful people in the world that do not have a degree. Its all in how you apply yourself and steer clear of the haters and dream killers. Set up goals on where you want to be in life and reverse engineer several ways to get there.
(for the young guys...) Take care of your credit and it will take care of you. Keep the credit card debt below 50% of your limit, this keeps your FICO score from taking a big hit.
I am an Operating Room nurse in a huge University affiliated hospital. My black 6mt coupe has been the start of many conversations from the "hottie" nurses, lol. "you're the guy with the nice black car, right?". Whatever it takes for them to chase me instead of the surgeons, hehe!!
lol...I think my G got the opposite response than rb did from my co-workers. I used to get the outcast stares when I was driving my Civic to work. I guess it was too weird for people to see their Accountant come out of a ricer Civic in a dress shirt and tie. It actually feels like I belong now among the sea of BMW's, Benz's, and Lexus' (or Lexi's, whatever is the correct plural).

Fact of the matter is:
Our cars will forever draw attention.
A different type of attention...
There are a zillion different types of cars out there...
But there is only one G/350GT...
It will go down in history not only as a nice car... but a classic.
It's another 300Z in the making as a good friend of mine recently said.
No matter how old or young you are, if you're in it... you're the $hit.
(Yeah, even the 60 year olds)
Dignified, sporty, luxurious, yet zippy.
With as much or little mods you want, the car is in one word: ineffable
Bone stock to modded up the wazoo, if you've got a G, you're in a separate class. Not a pompous or pretentious class like the Benzos or the Bimmers, but more like the silent elite.
