Default Rookie Brit needs help

Good afternoon all. Just a couple of questions needing answering.

I am living in the Phili area of PA and wondered if anyone else locally was bothering with snow tyres. I understand a lot of you are but I have never driven a winter yet.

Secondly, I have managed to drop loads of shit between the drivers seat and the compartment that hold the hand brake. My fat digits can't get down in that slot so wondered if anyone knew of a way to remove the seats so as to get down there.

Lastly, being a bit of a newby to right-hand driving scenario I have managed to scuff my alloys on more than one occasion. Anyone know of a good specialist to get them re-touched and back to their best?

Hope you guys can help.

Cheers, UK_G35.

What did you drop down there? If the objects are magnetic, try sticking the end of a magnet in the hole and the objects will cling to your magnet so you can remove them. You could also try using a vacuum cleaner with one of those small attachments(an attachment that comes to a small point would be preferable) on the end to suck out or pick up anything that it can grab. If you don't have an attachment like this, you could probably make one with some duct tape and a funnel. Just cut the funnel down to a size so that it will mate up with the end of your vaccuum cleaner hose, and then duct tape it on and use it to pick up stuff that fell into there. If you don't feel like cutting, then just tape a piece of small pipe, and stick it about halfway into the vaccum hose, and duct tape it to the vacuum cleaner hose(make sure you secure it tightly so it doesn't get sucked in).

Good luck, and welcome to the board.

Have you tried moving the seat all the way forward and getting the stuff from the back seat?
VQ is the admin of this board, and he lives in PA. Maybe he can help you with the rim problem.

UK, you can probably find some one in the Philly area to buff and paint your wheels for around 100$ a piece. The downfall is they can not match the OE paint, but they will be pretty close.

Here is a site that will get you started. I did order a wheel from these folks a while back as a spare. I did not like the color very much though. I use Wheel Worxs out of Millersville MD and they are great.

I live in Philly. I don't plan on getting any special tires. Of coarse I don't summer tires either. I am also curious to see how it drives in the snow. Hopefully I won't have to worry about it. I traded a fullsizee pick up for my G. It is going to be a big adjustment. What I wanted to know if where in Philly can I wash this thing myself. I know there are regular autowashes but the brushes scratch my wonderful black paint. Is there a do it yourself wash around?

i live in south jersey. barely 10 minutes from philly. i have the 18's with the summer tires and i'm leaving them on. it snows at most a few times per season. if its that bad, my office will be closed - which means i won't have to drive. otherwise, i'll get a ride from a buddy... OR i'll just drive like a civilized human being - using common sense.

i think i'll be ok. as far as the other morons on the road... well that's what i worry about.

Seriously, and I am not casting an aspersions on your driving - I am sure that you are both smart and sensible in winter weather - but please don't drive in the snow with the stock 18" setup.

I grew up in Colorado, learned to drive in the snow, and trucked around in a 95 Nissan Sentra before I picked up my G35. After almost dying half-a-dozen times last year, I would never, N-E-V-E-R drive her in the snow again.

Just to paint you a picture, I actually got stuck in my parking lot last winter because she couldn't get over a few 6 in. bumps of packed snow. If you handed a piece of paper and a pen to Leonardo da Vinci, he could not come up with a car that operates worse in the snow.
