Default Cruise Control

I have 5000 miles on my G and was wondering if anyone has had any problems once you to turn the cruise on that you can't set it. It doesn't happen every time but it happens enough to become frustrating. It seems that once i restart the car everything is fine. J/C thanks[boink]

Use the cruise all the time, never had problems. What speed are you trying to set it at? I know it has some upper and lower limits.

I haven't had that problem either, but interestingly I did have that problem on my previous car (2000 Audi A4). They changed either the controls or the electronics and it got better.

I would take it in and have the dealer fix it.

I am thinking that there are two potential causes.
1. It's a software problem and that's why you don't run into the problem when you restart your car.
2. It's a contact problem. There may be a poor contact surface (sensor error) related to your brake pedal/clutch pedal. When you tap your brake or clutch the cruise control shuts down, it could be that this is happening....but before the cruise control is set.

For instance, in order to set the cruise control in my Prelude I have to physically pull the brake pedal upwards with my foot. When I hit a tiny bump it is enough to jiggle the brake pedal and shut down the cruise control.

Either way it's probably best to tell the dealer about it since it will be a warranty item.

Please let us know what it is....if the techs are able to reproduce the problem.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the problem you're having but you never know. When I first started using the cruise control, sometimes my foot would be touching the clutch pedal so the cruise control wouldn't engage. It would only be touching the pedal very slightly. It seems that the cruise is very sensitive to all the pedals. Make sure that this isn't happening to you, since you have a 6MT like me.

I had similar problem with my 2001 Sentra since the very first day. Initially I thought I wasn't setting the Cruise Control properly, but then I took it to the dealership and they replaced the control buttons (they were in a box seperate from the steering wheel, between the spokes of the wheel). Everything was under warranty and it's still fine since then. []
