What product do you plan on waxing your "G" with? [dunno]
Instead of waxing talk to your dealer about a new process/protectant that they call ACRYLIC COATING. It alleviates any need to wax your car for 5 years while providing you with better protectant from various substances found on the roads (dust, salt, acid rain, various snow melting products). My only regret with my G is not getting this done sooner but I just found out about it. This product makes your car twinkle just like right after you wax but with very little maintenance (a simple car wash).
This product is applied like paint but covers your glass as well. Unlike a maaco paint job, they do continue it into your door well. It comes with a 5 year guarantee and 5 year warranty at the end of which you can elect to have the process done again.
The charge for the whole deal is $499.00. Well worth it in my opinon as it breaks down to only 100.00 per year and they did a full detail of my car as well.
I just got this done on mine and the difference is unbelievable. I will be putting some pics up as soon as the snow melts.
Can somebone else confirm Acrylic coating is well worth $500? so I don't have to wax the car for 5 years? how long does it take for thr dealer to apply it?
I can get the G detailed many times over for $500 and take care of the things that acrylic won't protect you from. Or buy 40-50 bottles of Meguire's NXT []
My guess is that it wouldn't help any more with stone chips than a good wax depending on the size. 3m is still probably the best way to go for that.
It takes about 4 hours to apply from what I am told. I dropped my car off for some other services as well so they pretty much had it all day.
I was very skeptical about this product when I was first introduced to it. It came up when I was asking the dealer how much a good wax job would be. The GM also claimed they were one of the first people to come out with this product and that it was tested out in Florida first. He said the cars that had this application looked just like the day it was first applied even after they had just been thru the hurricane and had only been thru a half assed wash.
I called about 3 body shops to educate myself and possibly get a better price before I decided to go through with it. None of them had any clue what I was talking about so maybe Infiniti is the first. Another reason I decided for it was that they had a new Titan with this coating applied in the showroom. They also had various substances that you could smear on it along with candles. Low and behold after tagging up that thing with a candle it WIPED right off. All of this along with the peace of mind that they will stand behind this product long term (guarantee and warranty for 5 years) and I was asking myself what is not to like. I don't know if every dealer has this product but I will NEVER OWN ANOTHER NICE CAR WITHOUT THIS COATING.
Damn I sound like a stupid infomercial but I am that impressed.
Sometimes the paint needs to cure on new cars. They used to recommend some long ass period before waxing .. Dunno about now.

Regarding the acrylic thing .. it's not new at all. I've known about it for at least 5 years .. I've never had personal experience with it other than seeing the finish on a hood that hung on the wall of The Tint Pros in Huntington Beach (CA) .. but they're too expensive. (They do good work tho .. might wanna talk to them for more information about the acrylic .. should be slightly more intelligent & less BS than your dealership.)
