Default Fuel Gauge never reads full

I searched the forum to see if anyone is experiencing the same problem but didn't find any posts.

2003 6mt 30K miles

I drive 146 miles/day for work. I fill up 3 times per week. Lately, whenever I fill the tank, the guage never reads full. I've also noticed a flutter sound whenever I push through the gears. The problems seemed to begin after my local oil change shop changed my air filter. I took it back to the shop but they couldn't find anything.

I'd appreciate any help.

BTW, SANDKING, I've had several NAV system scares like you described. That's why I'm concerned about the fuel guage. I'm getting around 25/26 mpg but I'd hate to resort to maintaining a mileage log and carrying a calculator.

Common problem. Mine did it for awhile then stopped. It's lke it needs to be burped or something. I noticed it most when it was cold. Since it's starting to get cold again, maybe it will start again.

Mine wouldn't read right on the first two tank fulls when new but seems to be ok now.

Yup... I was just gonna ask the same thing.... I've noticed the past 4-5 fill-ups, my gauge never goes to full. It's starting to drive me crazy since when the low fuel light comes on, and I refill the tank, and I never put more than 14-15 gallons in....sigh.

OK then. I guess I just have to live with this little annoyance. The problem has been plaguing me for at least 6 weeks. I hope it resolves itself soon.

the tank is 20 gallons. even if the navigation says you have **** miles left till empty. You only used about 17.5 gallons. The trick i found out was either reinsert the filler a few times, the tube might trip the sensor and stops it from filling at like 10 gallons. Or try not to squeez the filler trigger too quickly. it seems to work for me.
