Left Eyeball is hurt

For several months the Left Eyeball lowbeam would come on if
I flick it off and on a few times. When it came on it was dim for
a moment going from not-so-lit to full-on bright. Now it just
doesn't come on. Right Eyeball is 100% fine.

Does this sound like a burned out xenon bulb for sure?
I would hate to waste $107 if a new bulb doesn't solve the problem.
I don't think it could be a blown fuse if the other Eyeball is fine.

Are all DTR bulbs the same size? Or do I need a specific model number?

What is the cheapest way out? I assume buying over the internet?
Autozone wants $107 to buy one locally. I don't have a lift so I'll need
to get the Bulb and bring it to a local non-chain garage. And before
anyone goes and calls me a pussy for not jacking up the car and pulling
the wheel off, I had heart surgery 3 months ago. Otherwise I would.
I'm going to channel Gilley on this one..

Thanks..

I suspect a ballast issue over a bulb issue. One way to rule out one or the other is to swap sides of the bulbs such as left to right and vice versa.

You can also swap ballasts that way.

Buy bulbs online. I got my last set off eBay from a reputable seller. You'll want to buy them in pairs and replace both bulbs as they change color as they age.

Ballasts can be found inexpensively online as well.

You don't have to pull the wheel to change bulbs. Jack one side and turn the wheel to the other side to give you the room. Then go to the other side and repeat.

As long as the beams are off, do I have to worry about shocking myself
when removing the ballast? Is there a built up charge in there?

Is it just 3 screws, a keyed plug on one side and the wire-mesh amicable
cord that clamps onto the bulb?

Do I need this:
NEW 2003-2009 Nissan 350Z Coupe Roadster HID Xenon Headlight Ballast 2847489904 | eBay

Or should I get a used one like this with all the wires?
Xenon HID Headlight Ballast Igniter Control Unit fit 03-07 Infiniti G35 Coupe | eBay

One more thing.. When googling this someone wrote in to "switch off auto lights" because
they wear out the ballast faster. What does that mean?

I would buy the new one for less and move your wiring over.

Make sure the lights are off. It's just the 3 screws and wiring as you described.

I don't think you'll shock yourself. I never had a problem but I didn't stick screw drivers in there to test a short circuit either.

I guess the "auto off" post you found suggests the less the ballasts turn on, the less of a chance they will fail. I don't know anything other than that. Ballasts occasionally fail.

I would swap the bulbs before committing to new ballasts to rule it a bad bulb.

Turns out there was a connection problem.

I hit a wild boar 2 years ago and that did a ton of damage and probably
wiggled something loose.

Anyhow, unplugging everything then re-plugging everything made it work.
Same Xenon / Same Wire / Same Ballast. Lucky me.

On a not-so-lucky note, both bushings are completely gone. Another $500.

Glad you figured out the wiring issue.

If you're referring to the lower control arm bushings, I got replacement Beck Arnley or Mevotech arms on Amazon for less than $70 each. Fit and worked fine. You can change each one in about 30 minutes at home with hand tools. Save some money.
