2016 costs:
Akebono ceramic brake pads all around for $100 plus $50 for local "non-chain" shop labor.
G35 radio repair: $193 (priceless after 3 months of no music)
Dead Battery: $50 from walmart (previous $50 walmart battery lasted 6 years)
Lowbeam Headlight out: Not Fixed yet

Hankook S1 Noble2 fronts are worn flat on the insides with just
18,000 miles jeeeezz!!!! My last set were Kumhos and I ran
them to 52,000 miles with zero tread left anywhere on the tires.
The shop that took the Kumhos off said they've never seen tires
so worn out and not be blown out and asked if I was Jewish.
(I'm not BTW)

Still, the cost delta for insurance alone on a new car (which I would
probably hate) more than covers all the maintenance costs. I only
have liability on the car now. A new $50,000+ replacement car would
add $1,000 a year to my insurance bill. (I would need full coverage)

Good to see you're keeping her maintained. Maintenance is usually much less than a new car payment each month. When maintenance costs more than a car payment, it's time for a new car.

$50 for a car battery sounds like a good deal.... with heat and cold extremes, I'm not sure anyone stocks a battery in that price range here.
Our low temps last night and tonight are just above zero. I had 6 at our house at 1130 pm and when I got up around 6 am.
Winter is moving in !!
