Alright guys I need your help. I've been pretty busy lately and my car needs a wax. I asked the dealer (brand new dealersip- the only other one close to me sucks) and they told me about an acrylic coating that supposedly lasts 150 washes. They recommend this way more than a good wax.
Sounds interesting. Does anybody know anything about this? Price? Lasting effects? I am going to the dealer tommorrow morning and need to make a decision.

The dealer tried to sell me this too when I was picking up my G. If I remember correctly they guarantee/waranty this acrylic thing that you're talking about. I don't remember what the terms are for the warranty, but I have a vague recollection that they said they'd repaint my car for me if this thing fails. I didn't get it in the end. I think its only like $20-$30 extra/month. If we're talking about the same thing thats what I THINK the price/terms/etc. are; don't quote me on it. I'd clarify with the dealer first whether or not they'll warranty their product. But I don't really know if it is that much better than a good wash/wax/polish. I'd expect them to advocate the acrylic more than wax since its an "Infiniti" product.
cool I guess. I'm gonna get some more info when I am at the dealer. They claim Magchloride (snow melting stuff prevalent here in Denver) does not stick to the coating. From my understanding magchloride is super bad for your paint which is why this has my interest.
I think this is what I have on my car, don't remember the name though. It came included in the price of the car and was on the car when I bought it. Anyway, it is supposed to have the same warranty as DOHCtor mentioned. Basically I should be receiving a card in the mail every six months. I just take the car in and they will reapply this coating and detail the car for free. I think they will do this for like 4 years.
It is raining here today and it is really beading like crazy on the car even after two months.

Are you talking about Magnesium Chloride? As in MgCl2? As far as I know MgCl2 is used as a fire retardant and combined with with MgO it can produce a stable corrosion resistant magnesium oxide cement, artificial marble, magnesia tiles, flooring, ceilings, doors and window frames. I have never heard of anyone using this on their cars.
Well I went ahead and made the plunge after talking to the GM of the dealership and checking out a brand new Titan with the acrylic applied. You could also smear various substances on it which would just wipe right off with no fear of scratching.
I must say I was mightily impressed. The cost was $499 which included a full detail as well. It lasts for 5 years at which time you can get it reapplied. It is warrantied for the full 5 years which covers any possible problem with the paint as well (which I seriously doubt it would affect negatively anyways)
No need to wax for 5 years and washing the car will be a lot easier.
After I parked my loaner and paid I asked where my car was and the Lady told me I parked next to it [bigeyes]
The difference was huge! I didn't even recognize it at all. I thought it was one of their brand new loaners because it was so shiny[jaw]
I would recommend this and will have this done for EVERY other car I own. It breaks down to $100 per year with pretty much no upkeep.
On a side note Magchloride is what Denver dumps on their roads to melt the snow. From my understanding it is very damaging to paint.
I'll get take some taken tommorrow and post them. Infiniti claims they are the first people to come out with this product/process and that it was tested down in Florida prior to making it here. I called a few body shops to see if anyone could beat the price or had any more info but no luck.
I can't stress again how impressed I am with this product. They have a superb application process that even wraps into the door well unlike a maaco paint job. Big ups from me. I've been waiting for something like this to come out for quite some time.
I just apply Klasse AIO and the Gloss.. and it lasts for months.. it survived through all the rain California's been getting lately also and I applied it 3 months ago.
