Default Question about Weird Smell...

I live in NJ and the temp. has then dropping into the low 40's lately at night. Today I started my G after not starting it for like 4 days and heard this really weird sound like something scraping against something else and then saw smoke right afterwards that smelled like burning clutch. Has onyone every experience this? Is this normal/ok? Let me know. Thanks.

Hmmm it doesn't sound normal. Where did you see the smoke at? If it keeps happening I would take it to the dealer but I don't think this is normal.

The smoke came from underneath the car and the color was white/blue.

Ya probably had a rat or some small creature sleeping up on the manafold or exhause pipe. When you started the car and it heated up quick, the creature was BarBQ'ed

I heard the clutch has stuck for some people while in neutral in the early days of the G Forum... not sure if you just experienced it......

What kind of animal did you car-be-que msb3079? I never really thought that any animal would get stuck. Then again my experience is only limited to toads, mongooses, and a (1 only) cat.

Isn't white/blue smoke usually mean your engine is burning oil? I used to have a car that did the same (Jeep Cherokee with 300,000 miles), I had to add oil every 2-3,000 miles because it just burned it away.

I recently had this happen to my car.
The engine sounded like a slow starting fan with metal scraping sound and then the smoke came from under the car or from the exhaust. It had come back from the dealer the day b4. I don't understand it but it hasn't happened since. Maybe a mouse liked the heat from the engine and got caught in one of the belts.

I'm no expert, but maybe some carbon deposit buildup causing the scraping noise? The only smoke induced problem I had before was a blown head gasket that caused white smoke to come out, but I doubt its that; unless you see a constant temp gauge rising. The smoke coming from the cold weather cold start sounds kinda normal. I've seen that happen alot with that type of situation. The scratching noise however is not normal. If its not the carbon deposit thing then maybe its a starter choking problem?
