Default Dealer damaged the gear shifter

Just got my car back for the 7500 miles service. When I dropped my car in, I told the service manager that the gear shifter is a little bit crooked to the left and I want it to be straightened.
Then here is the bad part... I got the car back, the service manager told me that the mechanics torn the leather wrap around the gear shifter.. i was like.. WHAT THE F***.
I go checked the car and sure enough I see the leather is torn a little bit. And the worst part is that when I was about to get out from the dealer. the gear shifter makes a very loud rattling sound. it's like something is loose. the harder I accelerate the louder is the sound.
this really make me mad. Then I went back to the dealer and told the service manager about the rattling sound.
Well.. the good part is that I'm gonna get a new gear shifter sometime this week.

Bastards must pay vic. I'm glad they didn't try to duck the responsibility and are going to make things right.

I cannot understand why we hear so many of these stories. Where the hell do the technicians get trained? For some reason these guys don't understand the difference between figuratively tackling a problem and literally tackling a problem......too much ESPN.

Also, be advised there is a similar TSB for Nissan 350z re: shifter knob straightening warning about linkage damage. HERE

Pretty simple, IMO. They break it, they fix it. Maybe a bottle of Lexol leather cleaner and a bottle of Lexol leather conditioner for your inconvenience is in order.

Damn.. it's pretty tricky..
But Infiniti's Mechanics should have known about that right?

Damn sorry to hear about that. Sometimes dealers F up but at least they take responsibility for it. Very honest but still stupid of them to F it up in the first place. They are suppose to be pros.

yeah.. thats what I thought too. I only asked them to straigthened the shift knob.. but they instead of fixing it, they created some more problems:
1. Leather wrap torn
2. Scracthes on center console
3. The gear shifter has a loud rattling sound
4. They actually did not straightened the shift knob, know they make it crooked to the right.

So.. after I got my car back, one problem was not fixed.. instead, I got 4 more problems to fix. I'm just really really really pissed off

Where in California are you? I'm trying to keep a general list of dealer experiences in my head.
