Default Winter Rims

Hey Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anybody know of good 17" steel rims that fit over the Brembos and/or where's a good place to get them? Just looking for cheap rims that will get me through the winter. Winter time's coming to Cleveland and looks like Blizzaks are going to make their way onto my car soon enough. []

Thanks.

~G

Do a search on Crazy Mike. He bought stock 17s and spacers to use with winter wheels. Seeing as how the 18s are starting to go for $800, you should be able to get the 17s for lower than that.

Spacers are minimal money.

Or go to Tirerack.com and select the 6mt coupe, when the rims comes out, they should all clear Brembos.

Did someone say my name?[]

Yep, I got a set of used 17" coupe rims from a classified ad and ordered Blizzak WS-50 tires from Tirerack. If you want info on the spacers, the thread you're looking for is here:

The whole setup ended up costing me just under $1200 including shipping for the rims and tires as well as mounting and balancing. Tire rack is also a good option for wheels - but I preferred to keep the stock look. Good luck up there in Cleveland!

I just got 17x7.5 ASA JH3 Silver wheels from TireRack (www.tirerack.com) for $129 each (I also bought Blizzak LM-22s for them). I haven't tried the front wheels on for size yet, but the back ones fit with plenty of room to spare for the Brembos. I expect the front ones will too. Tirerack can also let you know what other choices there are.

I don't know much about the technical merits of these wheels, but I believe they're reasonably good quality, and their appearance is somewhat similar to the OEM (thought not as nice looking). The only thing I didn't like about them thus far is that a cross shape lug wrench doesn't work because the space where the lug nuts go is small -- not a big deal, though. Hope this helps.

Hey B Rod, would you mind posting some pics of the tires and wheels on your G? I'm trying to decide what to do for the winter. Thanks!

Sorry, they're not on the car now. I'll put them on in about a month.
If it'll help, I can take a picture of one unmounted. If you go to the tirerack website you can see some pictures though they're not great.
