Tire Pressure Monitor inside tires worth $250/ea?

I heard someone told me that the little TPMS are worth $250 each. Is that true? [dunno]

Infiniti parts deparment sells them for ~$290 each. I bought a set of dedicated track wheels/tires but passed on getting another set of TPM for them. The warning light comes on after ~30 minutes but no audible alarm.
