Default Drive out to Borrego Springs PICS

I took a drive out to Borrego Springs this weekend.
It was a lovely day and I got some nice pics of the G.
Enjoy:

Very nice! Did you take the drive back through Julian. There are some great twisties back in the woods just outside of that town.

rbichara: Yes, many nice twisties. The road out there is very
smooth and you can carry a lot of speed in some sections.
Towards the end, right before the mountain drops you off into
the desert, there are some very tight turns.

WileECote: I drove home through Julian, the road through the woods
is indeed very fun. It's nice to see that most of the landscape
has recovered from the SD Fires as well. Last time I drove out to
Julian, right after the fires, there were still some spots smoking
and everything was black.

What is the way exactly to get to the best twisties ?
I have gone to Julian before, but there was a lot of traffic.. it was fun passing cars but when I got stuck behind a pack of slower cars.. That was no fun..
Maybe we should start a thread on the most exciting roads to drive on ?

There was an suppelment in a recent Automobile that listed some of the best roads to drive on. I'm not sure if I still have it or not but I'll look. It was sponsored by Mazda so everyother page had an RX-8 on it, but maybe someone else on the forum has it and can post it.

Great pix. I love that area through Julian. Borego Springs is a neat place (if you like heat in the summer).

InLU: Yeah, I stopped and picked up an apple pie in Julian. I also
like the apple cider they sell there. Delicious

GTO2050: It was 98 degrees in Borrego Springs according to the
in-car thermometer. But it didn't feel that hot at all. It was
actually very pleasant. Probably because the desert is all dry
heat, low humidity. If it was 90 degrees out in La Jolla, I'd be
sweating buckets due to the humidity.

Check out Highway 74 in Lake Elsinore. Connects the 15 and the 5.

Is that the Ortega highway? Great road but you gotta be really careful. There's an awful lot of motorcycle paint on the rock walls along that road. Too much SpeedVision I guess.

Yeah, the Ortega hwy is notorious for the final run of many bikers. Last time I cruised up there I saw a huge caravan of S4's.... don't think my G can take any S4 on the ortega though.

Quick story.... I was in my friends little 93 sentra. I think we were 17ish... anyways... he was driving like an idiot and we ended up losing it around a curve. There was a slight drizzle so the road was slick. Anyways... we ended up hitting a huge boat head on!.. like an old cadilac. The amazing thing was although the little tin can we were in was destroyed, we werent even hurt.

I would safely assume its not a cop hangout but considering a lot of bikes crash it, who knows. Due to it being a tiny two lane hwy i wouldnt think cops would routinely make the 30 mile trip unless called upon. Let me know when and Ill try to make it too... im in temecula... so im pretty local. When I saw about 8 or so S4's cruisin it... it looks nice
