Default this sucks!

i traded cars with a friend last night, so he can use my G for use of his denali...he noticed that i was due for an oil change and decides to hook me up and take it to a local mechanic...i later found out that the guy used some no-name brand oil[banghead], until now all i've ever put in her was Mobil-1...hope this doesn't effect my over all performance...thanks alot david[!]

It will not do any harm in the long run. Sure when the oil is in the car the protection may not be as great, but you can switch back and forth from synthic to non-syn and will cause no harm. Just a bad myth.

yeah i know G_35, it's just i've always used high quality oils like mobil-1 and redline in all my cars...and now that my G has some funky oil, it just doesn't feel right...mental thing i guess.
oh yeah, welcome aboard G_35

Could of been worst, he could of crashed, or got it stolen. It's just an oil change, next oil change just go back to the mobil1.

If you really dislike the idea just change it early .. 1500, 3000 .. I consider both early. Hell, change it now! []

Cant really blame your friend it was a nice gesture of the girl/guy to get the oil change. Im sure he wasnt even thinking about what oil they would use or maybe he himself didnt know which oil to use otherwise he may have spoken up.

I know with some people your lucky if they borrow your car and fill it up with gas never mind taking time out to get an oil change.

I'm not as worried about gas grades as I am about gas types.
I have a friend who once tried to put diesel fuel into my old Nissan 240SX by mistake.
Fortunately for me(and others I'm sure!), the diesel nozzle is too big to fit into the filler reservoir of non-diesel vehicles.....tragedy avoided.
