Default Stock chrome wheels-- pics?

I've got a carwash owner paying me $350 for some minor damage to my driver's side wheels (yes, I know I shouldn't have done that but the bird sh*t was going to etch my paint) and I was thinking of doing a stock chrome wheel exhange. Can anyone recommend a company from experience? How about some pics of the stock 18's that have been chromed? Thanks.

Do a search on the web, there are alot a good companies that will chrome your rims. Most of them however will not do an exchange, because they do not stock the 18".

Those stock wheels look awesome on a black G when they're chromed. Does anyone happen to have a picture of a silver G with chromed stock 18's?

Dr. J! Sweet rims! Very, very nice. You got a sheen on that baby that won't stop. It looks like your grill is chromed, too, not just the black chrome that's stock. Hey, where are those clear corners?

edit: That's not your G, is it? It's a 6MT, and you have a 5AT.

You just have to watch out with some of these replacement guys. The chrome can be of very poor quality. When I had a Ford Lightning I used AAARims out of CA. The rims arrived and they looked great. Two weeks later the chrome was starting to "pit" due to brake dust. A month later the chrome on the inside of the wheel started to flake off. I raised hell and they told me it was due to road salt. Probelm is I live in Florida...we don't have road salt no snow. In the end they did nothing and said the damage is due to environmental conditions beyond their control.

Just beware.

I've also considered chrome but due to the additional weight I think I may just change my mind. Does anyone know how much chromed wheels weigh as opposed to the stock painted 18"....??? Do tell....

For those who do want to chrome, I believe I've heard that you want to find a place that will do a mickle plating first, then chrome over the nickle. Chroming over the nickle is supposed to be the best way to do a good, proper job that will be durable, but this is just hearsay that I'm repeating. If anyone has definitive answer please share and set me straght if I'm in error.....

Meanwhile, I think I'm just gonna do a repainting on my wheels (I got forced into curb by road hazard, scuffed my poor rims) []

One of the local dealers here is offering $100 off the total price of factory rechromed wheels. The last time I was over there he told me about it and what they do is give you a set of factory wheels that have been chromed. You give them them your old factory rims and like $700-$800 dollars. (Your rims will end up on some other guys car)

I don't think it is all that great of a deal and quit frankly I like the ones I have now. I'm sure the dealer is getting this done way cheaper then $700. Since you are buying them through the dealer I wonder what kind of warranty you get? Probably pass on what ever the company doing the plating gives and the dealer will probably refer you to them if there is a problem.
