I couldn't figure out why I kept smelling a "burning smell" I sniff the engine but it's not from there and I was totally clueless. I left it alone and that was two weeks ago...
and today I finally figured it out...there's a piece of PLASTIC from a plastic bag stuck underneath my car and It's melted or burn onto the underside of my car and so when it's hot it burns it.
I plan on jacking the car tomorrow and removing it, but any Recommendation on how to get the burned part off ? If I take it to the dealership...will they charge me?
Is it stuck to the exhuast pipes? If you have a jack or you have access to a jack, go for a quick drive to get the exhaust hot enough, quickly then jack it up and with a scrubber try to get as much off of it as possible (use a thick glove so you don't burn yourself). However, you'll probably be left with the plastic stain...oh well, as long as you don't smell the fumes any more.
That happened to me once, my car caught an empty milk gallon and it melted onto my exhaust mid piping. Jacked up my car removed what was left of it, and the rest of the black stuff was just stuck under there. Tried cleaning it off but it wouldnt all come off. I would say call your dealership and ask them, even though i doubt those shaddy fuckers would do it free... else just try it out yourself and see how it goes.
That SUCKS! Happened to my dads van when I was a really young kid. Fiberglass insulation or watever flew out from a truck and went under our car...and whew that crap smells. As for getting it off...I'm clueless...Gzire's method seems good..GOOD LUCK
I always try to see when I have to run over one of those if it comes out the other side. When it doesn't...usually end up pulling over to let it drop off.
Ahh yes, the good ol' aero package/vacuum cleaner. This nearly happened to me too. I ran over a plastic back blowing across the road as I had done 1000 times in my old car (ever wonder how plastic bags are so popular along the roads?). Never saw it come out watching in the rear view though, so I knew it had been sucked up underneath. I went about a half mile and as I started slowing down to stop and pull it out, it blew out. I now know to NEVER run over anything, cause this car will suck it right up. Being another 2-3 inches lower than my old car doesn't help either! As for removing it, just get what you can, if there is some parts still stuck, they should "bake" off in a short time anyway. Don't sweat it!

I drove it to heat it up and it came off with a pull but you guys were right...it burnt and build this ugly black stuff.. I can't really scrub it off so I left it alone [V]
Oh well at least no one is gonna go underneath and look at it. LOL[]
