Does anyone know of any good chemicals that will get rust off of my rotors? I've just noticed it looking a little bit tainted with some rust and I am not too happy with the way it looks.
Don't worry about rust on your rotors. Just drive your car and brake hard a few times and it should come off. Its not bad to have rust on your rotors. At least thats what I read somewhere. But yea...give your brakes a few good hard pumps and it should clean your rust off after awhile.
It's normal to have rush on the rotors. I think it's because, don't quote me on this, whenever you brake you take off layers off the rotors so you can't put rust proof coating on it and they don't. Anyways, it'll always come off so don't worry.

Thanks for the responses. I figured it wasn't a problem, I just like to keep my G looking as Immaculate as possible and those "unsightly" looking rotors were starting to wear on my eyes. They don't look too bad i just was wondering what everyone did to keep em looking new...
I know what rust your talking about, the rust on the TOP of the rotor where the pad dont hit. Yeah man i hate that rust... there is no way to stop it..

thekid - whatever you do, do not put any chemical on the rotor face. Although it might make the rotor look good, the car might not look so good after it fails to stop.
As everyone here has said, normal braking will take the thin layer of rust off. Solution is to drive more.[thmsup]

The rust is a GOOD thing. I would never go for the "rust free" rotors - the only way to make steel less prone to rust is to increase the chromium content of the alloy. That tends to make the alloy softer. It will also make it more likely to warp under the high heat of braking. The very last thing in the world you should worry about is a little bit of surface rust on your brake rotors.

Any recommendations? Thanks!
