hey guys, wanted to know wots the best way to clean the car, in terms of washing and applyin wax. I know its not good to use a car wash! but after washing it the other day i noticed that there were streaks left by me drying it with a cloth. havnt applied any wax yet contamplating it. any recommendations?
also noticed some scratches (not deep but visible) after i cleaned it, talked to the sales rep at Infiniti. He tells me to bring it in and they can try and buff it out. do u think its a good idea? i am not sure wot they might do...he says there is no chance of gettin it repainted but its buggin me.
Use a WATER BLADE after you wash. It will take the water off in sheets so less water is sitting on your car- Just use a cotton terry towel to dry off - no streaks. The Water Blade will cut your drying time to less than half.
I always wax after a wash- but do it in shades...early in the morning before the sun is hot or when the sun is down or do it in the garage.
As for the scratches..the only way to take them out is to buff it...let them do cuz if you dont know how..you might take the clear coat and stuff off. Take a picture of it first cuz if it comes back worse then make them fix it.
i wouldn't recommend a water blade; may scratch clearcoat. i use the absorber, followed by u.s. made 100% cotton terry cloth towels. you can get fancy and use microfiber too.
Hey super...what's a "absorber" you got a picture or a link? I haven't seen any scratch on mines from the blade. ...but the microfiber left little scratches..wanted to cry But it's a small area and it got buffed out.

here is the absorber. works great. Have used these for years. Best out there
Its what I have been using for years as well. Gets _all_ the water off and lasts for a long time. Just make sure you put it back in its container while still wet to make sure its happy and ready to work for you the next time.
I used to have an automotive performance shop and sold many items like this but found the absorber to be the best.
2004.5 G35 Coupe / 6MT / Diamond Graphite / Graphite / Premium / Rear Aero / 4PC Splash Guards
STOCK - AND STAYING THAT WAY!
Just wanted to basically agree .. waterblade bad, absorber good
I think I've got 3 or 4 absorbers ..
And microfiber towels or whatever those thinigs w/a couple thousand loops per inch are better than regular towels .. usually lint free, and much less chance of scratching the surface.
The absorber is kickass!
I used to use the waterblade on my vr6 but started to notice very fine scratches.
I'm getting a sample bottle of rejex from the distributor this week, I'll let y'all know it works out.
But getting back to drying, absorber works really well. I also favor microfiber towels, but not for drying. I think they're great for wiping off wax and buffing. I also tried Mr. Clean autodry, I think it's a good product, but unfortunately, the water pressure in my garage sux so I really couldn't rinse my car all too well with the autodry kit attached to my hose.
2004 Clear'd and Creamy Pearl 6MT
Aero and Premium goodness
Graphite's in to get the "lead" out
Forged rims and 1" drop... maybe
Engine mods... NEVER!
I've got the absorber too. I cannot bring myself to put it back into the container when it is still damp because when I open it up the next time.......PU!
G35Princess, not all microfiber towels are equal. There is a definite quality differential between the cheap and more expensive towels. A lot of times the difference has less to do with the towel itself, but more likely the seams/edges. My guess is that your microfiber towel edges (stitching) is what caused the scratches.
Thanks G... but I think I'm still too scared after the last time. The car was a week old. I really wanted to cry.
my little brother's RSX type S is a black one... I'll get the kind you're talking about and try it on his and if it doesnt scratch then I'll start using them again !
