The 6Sp arrived at the dealer.. I can pick it up tonite !!
FOr all of you with 6Sp manuals, does the clutch and box soften up a little after break in ?
rbichara, I have a 6MT and it does not feel too heavy. I had a Prelude and know what you mean about the easier clutch action. Honda makes a nice MT and I would not expect the G35's to soften up to be exactly like the Prelude. However, it is something that you will get used to and will learn to enjoy. Remember that the clutch is stiffer because it is having to deal with more Horse Power. I have a 911 with a racing clutch in it. It is extrememly stiff but it needs to be because it has to handle the hp.
The G35 has a nice short shift MT and you will like it. Get the 6MT, the Brembos and 18" Rims are worth it.
the automatic is five speed, the mt is six speed manual. the clutch doesnt soften up much but its not that hard a clutch. you should see my bosses jeep, it sucks ass and gives me cramps. i drive in traffic every day and while that does suck sometimes when i drive my automatic truck i miss driving a six speed. no one who owns the six speed ever regretted it that ive talked to, wait till you get to launch it on a open road and then you wont be sorry. theres nothing more satisfying then being in the right gear when you want to.

Find a salesman that'll let you drive both... hard, and decide for yourself.
Just gotta say that I can be in the right gear at the right time too with the auto. The manumatic works well for that, but I'll also reiterate that it's no replacement for a clutch.

Z tube and K&N drop in.
Fujitsubo is enroute.
I guess I have to disagree with that... To me, the clutch is a little softer (12,000k and after lowering the clutch a bit) and the shift box is definitely much smoother. I used to have a problem getting into 1st and 2nd gears, but now it rarely gives me trouble unless it's cold out and they're my first few shifts before my car has fully warmed up.

Thanks you guys..
I did drive both, and I am so used to driving manuals, I have never had an automatic, my only compliant is the heavy clutch and box, that do not seem to be a match to a Honda or BMW box.
I think I will go for the manual, I know the grin on my face when I am on open road will more than make up for the pain of being stuck in traffic
I would say absolutely it does soften up. I have 17K on my '03 6mt coupe, and my wife has an '04 6mt sedan with 1k, and mine is definitely smoother at this point than hers is. When I drive hers (rarely), it feels as choppy as I now remember mine used to feel when I first got it.

I don't want this to come across as a slam on the 5AT folks, but if you don't get the 6MT, everytime you walk up to the car and you don't see the gold Brembo's shining out at you, you will kick yourself in the A$$!!! (Sorry 5AT folks, I admire your cars and think alot of them, I just had to express my thoughts on the subject [^])
