I don't want this to come across as a slam on the 5AT folks, but if you don't get the 6MT, everytime you walk up to the car and you don't see the gold Brembo's shining out at you, you will kick yourself in the A$$!!! (Sorry 5AT folks, I admire your cars and think alot of them, I just had to express my thoughts on the subject [^])

Doesn't bug me any. Believe it or not, the is more to braking technology than a metallic gold finish. Brembos would only be of significant advantage on the track and even there, there is plenty of Brembo criticism. Which is to say that some serious track enthusiasts are unhappy with the performance of the Brembos. For my applications the stock brakes work just fine and I won't have to pay $300+ per rotor when it comes time to change them out.

Those were the numbers that I heard from a friend who was most likely getting screwed over by his dealership. After checking online front brembo rotors run (MSRP)$556 per pair and the rears go for $546.

And forgive me if I came off the wrong way, I really just meant to say that if the Brembos are going to be a selling point for you at least let it be because of the functionality and not just the metallic gold bling factor.

Where did you find numbers on the stopping distances? I haven't been able to come up with any for the non-brembo brakes.

Here is some interesting reading for ya. Scroll down to where they are testing the 350Z performance brakes vs. the track brakes. Less than 2 feet of difference in stops below 80 mph and less than 5 feet of difference for all speeds above.

Oh look a chart... I like charts...

The brembos don't significantly improve the braking coeffecient, the just dissapate heat better.

roneski: Great Chart and articles!

For me, the Brembo's were an important part of my buying equation. Similar ones came on Porsche's that I have owned and I was very pleased with them in their ability to not fade on the track....the heat dissipation point is exactly correct. Now do I need them on the street? No and I think that is the point you are making, a person really doesn't need them for regular driving, however, I like having them and the gleaming gold paint adds to my enjoyment of them because I do see them as I approach my car in a lot.
