But what the computer didn't tell me was that it was going to make me drive through...
Your friendly Monarch,
The King of Sand and Cacti
When the NAV voice, I like to call her/it "Chatty Kathy", tells me to go into a bad scene, I just ignore her and go a safer way (Oh; yes, I live in LA). My NAV is set to always pick up on any of my deviations from its chosen route and redirect me from any new location, so I just skirt the tough spot, ignore "Chatty" until I get around the threat, and then start listening to the driving instructions again once I am clear of danger.
Moral of the story: If you're going to be a slave to technology, you'd better carry a glock in your glove box.

The nice thing is that Infiniti did think outside the box (no pun intended here) for those of us without the Navi System, the little upper glove "box" suites my H-K perfectly.

Longtime Bruin fan, but far too expensive for me to attend, so I stayed back at UH.[]
Ah well super, so I finally know your drawback....a trojan ehh?
If it'll make you feel better, I got a P220. Haven't shot in a long time, getting the urge to go to the range recently.

sandking and partyman66, you crack me up.
I will certainly keep your words of wisdom in mind - there are a few rough areas around here - or "skull'N'crossbones" areas, if you will(also a dairy queen nearby). I'm glad you made it out of there, sandking, I'm not sure I would have!
Note to self: transfer my conatiner of mace from the accord to the G.[thmsup]

Does anyone know if we will get new navigation dvd or how we would if the dealers dont give us new ones? Because I think it needs to be updated... there's too many new developments/streets that not listed in the NAVI. I was in La Jolla in June for my brother's graduation... and while driving around... my NAVI went all "grey" and displayed.. UNKNOWN ROAD or something of that sort. But it's a finished street that goes for about 6 miles (square block)... I had to back track to get back out.. once I got out of the "new area" the NAVI came back on but the "new area" I just left showed up grey still on the maps....
This is an interesting thread, at least to me. Before I left the active duty Marine Corps back in 1991 to go to law school, I spent almost nine years flying the EA-6 as a bomardier/navigator/electronic countermeasures officer. One of the basic lessons that was constantly hammered into our heads in flight school was that all the gee whiz radar and nav technology we had at our finger tips was useless unless we took control of it for our benefit. If you just do where some computer tells you to go without thinking about what you're doing, sooner or later, you will get into trouble. If the system tells you to drive across a bridge that was demolished last week, I imagine you're going to stop before plunging into the ravine below, right? Likewise, if your surroundings don't look safe, it's time to divert to another route. The nav system, cool as it is to look at and use, is no substitute for common sense and good judgment.
Nonsense!
I don't even look at the road when I drive. I keep my car on the road by looking at the Nav screen and steering based on my position on that.

Sounds good to me. A couple more years of nav system evolution, and we won't even need to bother with those clumsy and fragile windshields and windows. Now, exactly why do you have a coupe??? And how was that "talking down"? Don't get too sensitive now, I was just suggesting a tad bit of thought about what's going on here. Of course, if you really NEED a nav system to get around, perhaps you NEED to be talked down to a little[] (Official Disclaimer: now be cool, that was intended purely in fun)
Tork, step into my office - cause You're FREAKIN FIRED!
ok... your re-hired again.
