Default ______ beats a G

Hey,
I am wanting to know what normal cars could go head to head with the G and beat it. Being there is no dirver error. I was thinking there has to be quite a few out there. Not saying the G doesn't have rediculous power. But what about cars like:
Pontiac Grand Prix GTP or Buick Regal - being they have a super charger and all. Or the new Crossfire, WRX, or 350z.

350Z since it's a little lighter.

Head to head in what?

Straight line acceleration or handling?

Of th cars you mentioned, we will smoke a Crossfire's pants off, unless it is one of the new SRT-6 models. A regular WRX is not as fast as our cars(except for the hole shot) in a straight line, but WRX's can handle real well..particularly at autocross type racing. A WRX STI will smoke us in a straight line, but we'd probably beat him in the twisties(unless he does suspension upgrades). We would kill a Grand Prix GTP in all categories. Supposedly the G35 pulls more lateral G's than the Z does, but the Z is lighter and just slightly faster in a straight line. I think on a track(despite the slight G-force advantage in favor of the G35), the Z would still pull better times.

Buick Regal??? Are you serious??

The mazda RX-8 is a close performance competitor to the G35(for the price), although we are faster...they handle better.

The closest competitor for the G35 overall is probably the BMW 330 and Acura TL. The G35 is faster than both, but those 2 cars overall are good market competitors for the G in terms of the whole car package(performance, price, options, etc).

I'm pretty sure an STi would beat us in the twisties also. With their AWD, they're monsters at autocross.

Keep in mind how much power we have down low. Some cars like the RX-8 require revving high as hell to get a good launch. In most everyday stop light to stop light races we'd win against those things ... dunno many people willing to launch their car at such high revs ...

When you say new, do you mean like 2005? I don't agree that a 03'/04' 2004 Mustang GT can take us. A Cobra...yes, but not a regular GT. The GT has a average curb weight of 3379 lbs, and it is only 260 HP. I know they have some more low-end torque, but not that much more.

I haven't seen WRX STI's do much at autocross with their stock setup. They are fast as hell...but they roll a lot in the corners and get sloppy.

From the flashes of them that I have seen, the regular WRX seems to handle better. It could be that they are just easier to drive due to them having less power. The EVO is better for auto-X than an STI.

Regular Mustang GTs are usually a pretty good race for me. I've beat a few and lost to a few. A well driven 6mt would probably be able to take them more consistently, but don't underestimate them.

Also wanted to throw the S2000 out there. Stock I think that it has the edge in acceleration, it lacks torque, but once it revs up the vtec is damned impressive. It also seems to be on par when it comes to handling.

Yah, as the STi is classed higher than the G35 in SCCA SoloII, it should technically also be a faster car in autocross. I would imagine that difference would be even larger in a track environment. And God forbid it should start to rain...

If the S2000 knows that they have to rev to 6k+ to launch and know how to shift, they should be able to take the G from the line.

The S2000 *owns* in SCCA SoloII B-Stock (where the G35/350Z is classed). Hands down. No questions. As a result, I would give the S2000 the nod on the track, autocross or open-track.
