Dieu and Johnny. (Applause)

You guys wanna know how awesome my G is?
It's so awesome that after I got to drive a $500k car, Porsche Carrera GT, my G still looked gorgeous as ever parked next to that super expensive machine.

G'INFINITI
Gorgeous 3.5 coupe.
"'Nuff said."

And I hate over priced and overacheiving four banger S2000's.

S2000 pulled up on my ass tonight on the way home. Dropped it to third then up to fourth. Wasn't really able to pull away from him yet at the same time I wasn't really flooring it either, yet he didn't try to pass as well. I was debating what to do since I was on residential streets posted at 45 and was already approaching 80. Decided not to go for it and kill someone since I was already flying. We come up to the next light and he pulls up on my right about a wheel lenght a head. I decide not to run him (only two blocks from the house)but he hammers it down when the light changed green thinking I was going to go. I let him pull away but he really didn't get that much of a jump on me. To tell you the truth it wasn't really that impressive. I don't know what kind of horsepower that thing makes but I think it would be a close race with maybe the s2000 winning. Maybe next time if the conditions are right we will see.

All things being equal the S2000 should be able to get the G by several tenths to 60 and the 1/4. From idle the G should get pretty even or even slightly ahead since the S2000 will need to get the RPMs up.

To get the most out of the V-Tecs, you need to get the engine wound up, but once it's wound up there's some get-up and go.

In a track situation, the S2000 will just wear the G down. What you have to realize is that these are really different classes of cars. The S2000 is more of a true sports car while the G is more of a GT car.

Head to head in what?

Buick Regal??? Are you serious??

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

Actually, he is. The GS version of this car, with the supercharged 3.8L V-6, runs 0-60 in anywhere from 6.3 to 6.6 seconds, depending upon which magazine you read. In other words, we've only got 'em by the thinnest of margins. If you've got a 6MT, and don't shift just right, you'll get a good look at the back of a Regal. That ancient pushrod engine, whose genetic roots go all the way back to 1961 (!) puts out 240 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque. The version in the new Pontiac GP is actually good for 260/280 (IIRC, their site's down at the moment...). So, if winning drag races is your cup of tea, you'd better watch this pair of sleepers carefully, or their drivers will be enjoying the surprised look on your face in their rearview mirrors.

OMG I can't believe a regal will beat a G. Then again I don't know much about them. All I know is that grandma's and grandpa's drive them to go play bingo. Also, Mustang GT will give the G a run for it's money but it'll be a driver's race.

Only if you're not careful, and only if it's a GS model. The GS comes standard from the factory with the supercharger. The LS model has the same 3.8L block, but it's naturally aspirated and only puts out 205 hp. No threat from this car, which is the usual bingo parlor cruiser. But watch out for those GS models. . .

I went to Chevys autoshow in motion where you get to test drive a bunch of cars. While I was waiting in line one of the staff members was trying to convince someone to try the Regal. Since nobody would, I decided to take it for a spin. It may have a supercharger, but I felt like I was on a damn boat getting seasick with all of the body roll and I wasn't even pushing it. I can't imagine trying to race somebody in one.[lol]

The Regal has the same engine I was talking about in the GTP I have. It has some real torque, especially off the line. I read about the off line torque of the G35 and just didn't feel it in my test drives of the G...probably because I was used to the off-line snap from the GTP. You get up around 50 MPH, though, and the G35 starts to shine more. The GTP (and equivelants) start to fade a little at those speeds (50-80). But I mean FADE and not FAIL. They are still burn'em quick.

Trust me, I suprised more than a few people in the GTP. Especially people in cars with faster 0-60 times but less low end torque (like the S2000 and other import-type cars). In the street the 3.8 series II supercharged engine is a HAWG to 50 or so.

There are many cars out there that can overtake this car, but barely any underneath the price range of the G35c (stock). Hondas/Acuras have a high tuning potential.. thus they can get their car to 'go fast' with a few mods/money out the pocket.

My friend's Acura RSX-S can take on a stock G35 coupe on the quarter. He has an all motor setup.. hondata, header, intake, cams, exhaust, lsd, etc. The G35 coupes barely take him off the line.. since he's perfected his launches.

If you really wanted to buy a fast car to use for racing.. and such.. you bought the wrong car. Should have went with the 350z if you're a VQ fan.. =T

I was a little hesitant to come firing back about the regal. But I was for certain it had a supercharger. They are the same engine that's in the Pontiac GTP (i think) just the car is a little lighter than the GTP. Anyways.

I started this thread for those who do race have a heads up on their competition. And not get embarassed by something unexpected. While our cars are great aesthetically and performance wise I think many people on this thread think it's the fastest thing on the road. Which is far from the truth. I love the car as much as anyone else on this forum, but I think I am realistic when it comes to other cars.
