You are absolutely correct sir! The recent article comparing the RX8 and G35 stated that the RX8 only got a good launch at 8K RPM... Personally, I think that sucks. I hate the fact that some cars require the driver to redline the car in order to acheive any level of performance.
Also, the Lincoln LS V8 gives the G35 Coupe a run for its money...
Keep in mind how much power we have down low. Some cars like the RX-8 require revving high as hell to get a good launch. In most everyday stop light to stop light races we'd win against those things ... dunno many people willing to launch their car at such high revs ...

How about another G? I couple of weeks ago, I pulled up to a light next to a nice looking G with an aftermarket exhaust. I rolled my window down to find out what it was, he said it was a Borla (not the stock looking kind) and that he had to get it to go with his twin turbos! I joked that I'd let him have the light, he smiled and asked if it was just cause of the turbos. So, I told him I'd see how well I can keep up. He's in a 5AT, me 6MT. I think the manual and some turbo lag helped me keep even with him through the intersection (although i only launched at about 3000 rpm) but he began to pull away just after I shifted to 2nd. He got 3 or 4 car lenghts ahead of me by the time I hit 80 and I backed off at that point (we were on a road with a 60 mph speed limit but widely patrolled with radar armed cops).
So, twin turbo charged G's will be our NA G's, but I'm Ok with that [bowdown]

You know what people; I never ride around town with an attitude. In reality, I truly know the G’s place. In addition, that place is not in the muscle car division. That is, in its stockish form. Our pop-chargers exhaust and other various accoutrements are in my opinion, icing on the cake. I believe the G is simply meant to be seen. It is really exciting and bizarre when I am traveling down the expressway and there always seems to be a guy and his gal following me pointing at the car in awe. In actuality, the G is in many respects moving art.
I agree with dieu. Why are most people on this forum so concerned with being faster or slower than the car next to you. I think it's immaturity. I remember a post a while back about the age of people on this forum. The average age was around 20. Like I said, immaturity. If you want to be the fastest car on the road, then you bought the wrong car. Hell, you could have bought a much faster car for less money. Too many times on this formum I've seen "I raced ____", "I beat ____" or "____ beat me". Why? I bought my G for a few reasons; I think it's the best looking car under $40K, you don't see one on every corner, it turns a lot of heads, and its performance numbers are very good. I race my car in SCCA Solo II's almost every weekend and the car performs quite well in its class. Those Honda S2000's are hard to beat, but I have done it once. Sorry I've rambled on but I just have one more thing to say. Racing is about a persons ability to drive a car, not about how fast your car is!

Something to consider (as many people here have, unlike most car forums!) is the factor of low end torque and grip.
A car with a lightning fast 0-60 time will often get smoke-checked by a car that is fast to 40, or to 35:even in a race to or past 60*. I drove (and still have) a 97 grand prix GTP. That thing is an absolute HOG on low end torque, and as such I would often surprise a lot of people in “faster” cars around town.
I wish more mags would post 60ft and 100ft times instead of just 0-60 and1/4 times…
*Reason being that although the car takes more time to reach 60, it is traveling at a faster average speed over the length of the race. Some people question me about this, so I am trying to beat them to the punch.
