I'm looking for a slightly lowered look 1/2 to 1 inch for my 2003 coupe. I want to retain, as close as possible, the orig. spring rates. I was wondering if the 350z springs are close enough & will give me the drop I'm looking for. Or do I need to go for Eibach's, Tein's or other brand
I've posted detailed info regarding several different aftermarket springs on coupes in several previous threads - characteristics, specs and impact on transfer of roll stiffness, etc. The info is there if you look. Try searching for "spring rates".

As far as what I have read here, the Tein's are the most economical, the 350Z springs provide the most aggressive drop, and the Eibach's may drop lower than Eibach specification. Bang for your buck, may be the Tein's. As dholly mentioned there are at least two solid threads on this issue.

Do NOT make the mistake of purchasing springs based on cost. Determine your goals, then research the spring characteristics and rates, make your conclusion and pay what you must to accomplish your goal.

hey everyboby, thanks for the input. i've checked out those threads & have a pretty good understanding of available aftermarket springs, stiffness, drop, etc. but.... what about the 350z springs. I didn't see them mentioned in any of the threads. Has anyone installed them? if so how low did they go & were they too stiff?

There are no less than FOUR *very* different Tein downspring options and FOUR *very* different RS*R downspring options available. Some are not even in the neighborhood of oem spring rates like the guy's looking for.

Thanks. Follow up: On the H-Tech for the 350z, the noted drop, I assume that's the drop a Z would have? My g coupe might/should be somewhat lower? I like the rate #'s on them.

Word of caution...don't know what the threashold of how much you drop your G will put your front/rear alignment specs beyond factory recommended specs. Because our G's don't come with proper camber/caster/toe alignment facilities, you may have to go with aftermarket kits...and those aren't cheap. Just make sure, you at least get some alignment readings after your drop because you don't want to be eatin' away on your expensive tires.

thanks for the words of caution. i'm hoping that a "small" drop will give me a little negative camber for "free". but i will have it checked out after all is said & done.

The ADVICE is that TEIN is top notch quality, and regardless of what spring you are looking for from them... is NICE. Same for RSR. I would comment negatively against a brand, but you can't go wrong with either.
I have run over three of TEINs coilover packages on a track built GSR, and loved them. This time around I wanted JICs.
Now lets end the smart ass remarks, and try to keep on topic.

Also, I don't know what the initial rates are for the 350z H tech - I have heard some performance driven owners call them a bit soft, and they will transfer a small amount spring balance stiffness to the front, meaning they will increase understeer.
See what I mean about doing your homework? You started off saying you wanted stock ride quality with up to 1" of drop. Now, you are looking at getting a 12.5% stiffer suspension with negligible drop. If that's what you want and can justify the expense, great! At least you have made a more educated decision without shooting from the hip. Pretty important, IMO, when talking about suspensions since you gotta live with your decision every driving moment.
Personally, if I had a coupe and wanted to increase handling performance without the expense of coilovers or camber kits, I think I might try the RS*R for 350z first. Moving the 12% spring rate balance to the rear will help dial out the understeer inherent on the coupe and give a bit more drop. I also like the idea of the linear rear spring, though that might be a little less 'cushy' than what you are after.
