Default Looking for reliable Horsepower

I just got my DG 6mt Coupe and I'm looking for 15 to 20 HP using some PROVEN, easily installed and reliable components.
I was thinking of a Z-tube, Plenum and maybe a Y tube for the exhaust (I don't want to change the sound).
Any Idea's or suggestions are appreciated.

Mabe a new chip? I can't remember the name of the company but Makochan has the chip I'm talking about.

The chip is by technosquare but they don't have one out for the later model '04 yet.

Ah ... thanks ... I was actually trying to find out if the chip would work for our later 04's.

Won't the Y-pipe change the exhaust note just a little?
The stock sounds great but I gotta admit the slightly deeper sound of the Borla is well worth looking into ... especially in combination with the headers.

If you can't find anything to up the power that you like then mabe you could try to find some solutions to lower curb weight. Those seats are heavy a$$ pieces.

Is there a general price range you're locked into?

I'm thinking about $750 to 800.
About 40/HP.
One of the things I don't understand is how a plenum helps generate more HP, also are the gainsof a plenum and a Z tube additive?

ooh ... that's a lot of power to get from such a small amount ... especially if you don't want a new exhaust (sounds strange calling $800 a 'small amount'). I can't think of anything that would really fit your budget at the moment but I'll keep thinking and I'm sure the more knowledgable people on this site will have better advice

An intake plenum can make major changes to a motor. If it is tuned correct it will give you the best torque and hp. A bad one will hurt your perfomance as well. The Crawford plenum is claimed to make power for you, click here to read about it. http://www.crawfordz.com/premiumplenum.htm

Your engine makes power by breathing, more air in meaans more fuel can be burnt. More fuel burnt equals more power.

OK so the Crawford Plenum dyno graph shows about 5 HP gain through most of the range, and about 12 HP above 5000 RPM for $500.
The Z-tube claims 4-6 RWHP but doesn't offer any Dyno evidence, so I can't tell where that HP is or if it's real (or imaginary HP).

There was a POST by dabomb that came from g35driver forum that shows actual dyno results across several cars (sedans vs coupes vs AT vs MT vs Superchargers vs plenumns vs intakes....etc etc etc) check it out.

Why not do the Crawford, shave the heads and have them ported and polished, add the Z-tube, add a set of high flow cats, followed by a Borla exhaust.

Hey Gard, if a Plenum is installed, does it require a ECU flash to have it perform optimally? I thought I heard something along that line somewhere?

The computer should make the adjustment for the change, just might take a few days of driving.

The technosquare website says that. It claims that an intake or plenum can actually reduce power without a chip that is make for the new mods

be careful, the Borla headers actually lost power on the dyno
