I mentioned this in a different post, you should really call Sam Swope Infiniti in Louisville. Ask for Ceceilia and let her know Mike from Dayton said you should give her a call. I couldn't get Dayton or Cincinatti to play nicely. The best offer I got from either of them was 1000 off msrp.
As far as the sales tax thing, you pay sales tax according to the state you register the car in. I'm sure they've dealt with OH residents several times. It isn't a difficult process...
I didn't think so, BUT, there is a potential catch you need to be aware of. The dealer will give you 30-day temp tags and one extra form to sign. When you return to your homestate, you must bring the paperwork to your local DMV to register and obtain your permanent plates. It is at that time you will pay the purchase tax (or diff if a trade was involved). Aside from requiring the trip to the DMV (which I had to do anyways because I was tfr'ing my old plates), it simply means you cannot roll the tax amount into the total amount financed.
If that is an issue, I would still suggest expanding your inventory search online. An email from another dealer stating a deal price will certainly put some pressure on the local dealer. Maybe enough for them to re-access whether playing hardball for the last couple/few hundred is wise in your case. Remember, they DO want to sell cars!

As CrazyMike said, many dealers close to state borders will do the sales tax work for you. Hopefully, if you look in Louisville, they will be able to do the Ohio sales tax for you so it can be put into the financing rather than paid cash.

I am not so certain what you mean by an out-of-state dealer "doing" the sales tax. It is my understanding that an out-of-state dealer cannot collect and sumit another state's (actually, county) tax liability. Of course, an out-of-state dealer can co-ordinate registering the car thur the home state DMV, for a fee, but that is a separate matter than sales tax.

I hope you had a good time in bed with yourself Lovechild....Now go get your G! Order it if you have to. There is no way I would sit around and wait if I had the money in my pocket! I love driving my G with the sun roof open on beautiful summer days like today.

Get it!!!...but my mind is consumed by plots and schemes to get this car (at the price I want to pay). I probably couldn't even order a cheeseburger without saying, "what 65 cents? Are you out of your fricken mind? I'll give you a dime" and you'll like it!
and so...I am on the hunt for it this evening on the internet...I have to locate it...I would think my choice would be the common choice...maybe that is why they aren't sitting right in front of me??? Where is my combo?

When I bought my Celica GTS in 2000, I bought it in Indiana and registered the car in Illinois. The dealer did all the work for me, including sales tax, license and registration. I didn't have to do anything unusual with the purchase, and never event went to Illinois DOT.
I think some dealers can do everything for you, even if they are in a different state.

You can probably look at a list of G35s that your local dealership has on order. If they don't have your car on that list Grubbs might have what your looking for. They deliver to any of the lower 48 states.
As for getting the price down...It sounds like it is more of a game to you. Just go tell them that you want the absolute lowest price they can give you. Good luck with the hunt. You have way more paitence than I do.

It is a game...but actually a game I would rather not play...still I try to be passing moderate at everything I do...I know that salesmen are experts at gaging my desire for the car and their job is to sell it as high as they can to me...whatever tactic/approach they take, I have to see through it and negotiate around it...the guy acted like a country bumpkin yesterday, oh my boss will kill me if I give you this price...please, if I was a guy and showed up like I wanted to get some lovin' with this car he would have had a totally different approach...he acts like he's has to put kids through college...but he could just as easily switch to the happy leacher who will talk low with his buddies about bagging "P"...otherwise he wouldn't be selling 35K sports coupes...I would prefer no marketing, no negotiation, no show room...but I have no choice in that...I do have a choice in where and for how much I sign a loan paper.
If I hadn't said a word yesterday the price out the door would have been around 35,250 plus tax...holy smokes, just give me a Porshe, then...took a half hour now it is around 33750 plus tax...and they know I am not bending over completly for overpriced anything else which should be included in the price of the car...he has scams I could never imagine...little hippie girl, like me...otherwise he wouldn't have that job...
I spent the last two months looking at 25 cars and reading professional and buyer reviews...and deciding that I will never want kids so I can swing this loan and maybe get a house after the loan is paid...this part is just another phase...sure the driving in summer phase will be great...I have the next ten summers to think about...
and they are looking pretty good, right now for Susan!!!
I talk a good game, sure...but ultimately I'll be in the front seat, fidling with the shifter...talking to the rest of humanity..."get out of my way, get out of my way..."
deep sigh...one last post and then this thread is retired...
I am searching each state on Infiniti site...so far closest borders have not got my choice...reaching out now...maybe Maryland...if I go all 50 states I might be here all night...
