G-Owners w/ climate control need some help here...
Can you have inside circulation on when your AC is off and not on windshield defrastor? Seems like the only time I can have inside circulation on is when the Auto AC is on or if is not on windsheild defrastor.
I drove a loaner that doesn't have dual air control and it was able to have inside circulation on w/o AC.
Reason is that some days are cold enough where I don't need AC to kick in and smelly outside air to get in.

I'm pretty sure that I can shut off the A/C whenever I want..regardless of any other setting. I was quite happy about this, because all of my old cars used to automatically turn it on with the front window defogger, even tho you don't always require cooling of the air to defog.
The A/C turns on by default when you switch to recirculate, but you should be able to push the A/C button once and turn it off while keeping the recirculate feature going.
SkyG35, I can confirm that when you hit the re-circ button, the AC will kick in. If you turn OFF the AC, the re-circ button will revert back to the fresh air setting. It's a bit annoying to me too. But as Stru says, if you don't want cold air, turn up the temp.
Damn them. I hate being forced to use AC. Ruins gas milleage and robs some power from the car. I guess power isn't that big of an issue tho, since we aren't riding around in some 1.5 liter econobox.

True it may take a few horsee's away.. but if your traveling above 55 (say on the hwy) then its actually more fuel efficient to have the windows up and AC on because it reduces drag which is a bigger killer on gas mileage. But if your in the city doing light to lights...then yeah.. AC burns the rocketfuel.

I can certainly say that the windows being down adds a lot of drag. I was doing a short top-speed run with the windows down and by 115 the engine was struggling against the massive drag.
On my 1800 mile trip to Illinois, I pulled 23MPG with the A/C on solid and WOT acceleration after every stop.
