Long post but worth it.. !st of all, I love the supercharger and the way it runs... but I was cleaning my engine and got some dcgreaser on the Procharger supercharger and the metal blue tag. Some of the blue come off the tag and didn't look as good anymore. I called Procharger and spoke to a tech. He said they couldn't do anything unless I sent the procharger back to them.. Haha yea right.. Pay to take it off and put it back on mainly for advertising for them?? So I asked for the manager, he told me the same thing, but them said to sent him a pic and he wuld get back to me. Here is what I received back from him.
"Jeff,
If you could arrange transportation for a short while I could expedite the blower turn around time in our facility. The cost to retag a blower is $75.00 plus the cost to ship it back to you. If you wanted to have the blower polished while it was here I can offer you a break ($300.00) on the cost of doing that while it was here. The normal cost of polishing an assembled blower is $800.00 and I would be glad to do it for $500.00. The normal cost of blower polishing is $200.00 at the time of purchase. Polishing is very labor intensive but much easier to do previous to the blower being assembled.
let me know what you want to do. As we discussed on the phone I cannot send out replacement tags because of the possibility of fraud.

Here is what I wrote back to him...
"Yea right!!!! I'm going to pay someone hours of labor to uninstall the blower (at least what 4 hours @ 125.00/hour $500.00), send it to you (shipping $20.00??), get the tag put on ($75.00), you send it back to me ($20.00) reinstall labor at least 6 hours @ 125/hour $750.00.....
YOU ARE KIDDING ME!!! I should pay $1,365.00 to get a new tag put on the blower to advertise for Procharger???? Then another $500.. to polish it???
Maybe be I should put a Vortec sticker on it. Why did I watse my time sending you picture??? for this????
I am on all the Forums and I am thinking about posting you answer to my question..... about your company Procharger. Please get back to me if there is another form of action....
This is an outrage!!!!
Jeff "
He never got back to me.. Any suggestions?
They cant send you a little tag? Thats lame. Were I to go SC, I would have considered procharger, but I dont know after something as petty as a tag. Not exactly a smart move on their part. Such demand to put procharger tags on... ac compressors? alternators? sell those bad boys as superchargers... im sure you could trick someone into it.
Post a pic so we can all see it and you can take your "I will Post your reply on the forums" threat to the fullest extent.

after this pic was taken, I polished it up and it looks great except for the tag..
Seems to me if you sent the picture with some type of proof of purchase and have the folks that installed the SC for you also verify your ownership, I do not understand why there should be a fraud issue. Hell, if it was me I would have had you send me the damaged one and sent you back a new one at no charge.
Damn I was thinking about procharger for SC but i'm big on customer service and if they treat their's like that it just says something about their company.
I don't see the problem. Of course fraud is a concern for them; just go on ebay to see all the "brand-name" knockoffs that people are trying to sell. You're 100% justified in not paying $22349089 for a new tag, but they have every right to not send you a new one.
Also, to be blunt, you did damage it. It wasn't their fault you needed a replacement.

Hmmm, maybe the real lesson to be learned here is for ProCharger. What kind of cheap crap paint do they use on their tags anyways? I agree with Stru, but have sympathy for Jeff as one could reasonably expect that any paint on an engine tag would/should be relatively impervious to engine degreaser. Hell, there is plenty of paint under most hoods.

I don't see why one would be upset with a company when you are the one who damaged the cosmetics of the product. The tag is (meant to be) permanently affixed to the unit (with its serial number, etc) and it seems resonable that if the aesthetics of this little tag (which has no impact on the form, fit, or function of the product you are otherwise happy with) is so important to you, they are being very accomodating to offer to replace it if you return it.
What would you have them do? Fly someone out to your location, drive to your house, remove, and replace the tag, and give you a free car wash?
We've all screwed things up in our life from time to time. One needs to get past the consternation and learn from the error.
I would recommed spending less energy on your frustration and enjoy driving your G and the performance of the supercharger. Life's too short to sweat the small stuff.
