Worst thing to face is a huge puddle on a turn - especially at high speeds. That will completely send your car out of control.

Doesn't pay to speed in rain.. especially on turns... in any car.

I'm surprised that with $20k worth of damage the insurance company isn't just considering it totalled. But I guess $20k is less than $30k for a new one.

Yep, I learned my lesson. Now I drive like an old man when it's raining. [jump2]

Wow,sorry to hear your car got wrecked Thehin but you gotta have pespective; it is still only a car and is replaceable. Main thing is you and the other vehicle's occupants are ok. It is a hassle but insurance should cover it. you should hardly be blaming yourself based on your description of how it happened. Chalk this one up to sh*t happens . Don't settle for a TL if you like the coupe.

This tells us all we really have to take it easy in the rain with this carand for sure wet days are not a time to test the limits (right Kashif).

Well, of course they aren't going to total the car! Insurance companies only total a vehicle when the cost to repair exceeds (or comes damn near) the value of the car. $20K is a lot cheaper than $30K+.

It's also a good thing for him - he won't have to absorb the depreciation hit and possibly being upside down on a car loan he'd have to pay off right away.

do you guys recommend getting it fixed at my infiniti dealer or a Pro Body Shop(I'm sure 80% of the shops in the U.S. never worked on a coupe before even though the 350z is similar), but i'm also aware some dealers do half as jobs, for all you experts out there what is your opinion.

**EDITED** I really appreciate your guys comments and input, thanks.

My dealer just sent me to a local body shop. Most of them probably outsource that stuff behind the scenes anyway.

I personally do not like using dealerships for accident repairs due to pass experiences with different ones and friends having similar problems. Your insurance carrier should be able to give you some references that provide quality repairs.

Mainly look for someone that has been around for more that 10 years and provides good benefits to employees so they retain experience staff. Ask for a list of references and tour their facilities as well. Also be sure to make your expectations clear on the repairs and do not hurry them.

Good Luck!

I've never come across a dealership that did body work themselves. They almost always outsource it.

Sorry dude, learn how to drive a rear wheel drive car.

I drove my rear wheel drive Nissan 300ZX down the Indiana Toll Road through a surprise blizzard with regular tires (not snow tires) and I kept it on the road. There was so much snow you couldn't tell where the edge of pavement was. SUV's were all over the ditch and median.

Be careful out there.

Whenever the pavement is wet, you HAVE to drive extra carefully in a car such as the G35.
