Default Break In for New 6MT???

I will be (finally!!!) picking up my 04 Ivory Pearl 6MT coupe this saturday. I have read numerous articles about how to "really" break in a new engine. Which is absolutely the best way? Following the manufacturers recomendations? Or just letting her rip right out the dealership parking lot???
Opinions? Results/Outcomes of those who have been driving 6MT's for a while (03 owners)?

Well, I don't know nothing, but here is what I did. Just reached 1200 on the drive home today so I do the last steps tomorrow.

Do what the manufacturer says for the first 800 miles (2/3 of the manufacturer break in) with the following additions:
(a) change oil and filter at 300 (just in case)
(b) once the first oil change has been done, once or twice every 100 or so miles do the following, start from 0 gently accelerate up to 5000 RPM through at least 1st, 2nd, & 3rd (4th if can) and let her decelerate down to 2000 or so in the final gear (adds a little juice to get the seals tight)
(c) once the first oil change has been done, once or twice every 100 or so miles do the following, in NEUTRAL rev the engine quickly (but not full tilt) to 4000 RPM and let it return to idle and do it again (adds a little juice to seals tight)

From 800 to 1200 miles do the following (now don't overdo this section, but we're ramping up what we are asking of the vehicle as we put on miles):
(a) keep doing (b) above along with (b) below
(b) as you put on the miles from 800 to 1200 gently increase the rate of acceleration to 4000 RPM (5000 when doing (a)) each time you start from a stop
(c) at 900 and 1100, don't redline it, but go pretty close to full tilt through at least 3 gears and let it coast back to 2000 or so in the last gear
(c) at 1200 change the oil and filter
(d) afte the oil change reset the ECU
(e) after resetting the ECU go drive it like you stole it

I think this strikes an equitable balance between breaking the car in without breaking something while under warranty (which is what the manufacturer especially wants and interests us some (do you want to lose your car for a week early, more warranty fixes means higher prices, etc.)) and getting the performance potential out of the engine.

If you don't want to do all of that just drive it like you normaly would, but try to resist the higher RPMs for the first 1200 miles. Take a nice weekend road trip, and have fun.

Oh yeah, welcome to 6MT.net.

Thanks! I will definitely let her get used to me slow (and I to her). I was just confused because "Motoman's" article seemed very convincing... but suspicious. I guess its better to be safe... and then if I feel like I'm laggin power later on, I'll just add a supercharger and start eating M3's alive!

What dealership are you getting it from? I live in Santa Clarita and I had to order mine cuz they didn't have any available in the western US.

You are right... this is the first one to reach cali in a few weeks. I can't tell you where I'm getting it.. cause it will be the only one in So Cal until the end of May (gotta secure my investments[]), but I will tell you that there is one at Towbin Infiniti in Las Vegas RIGHT NOW!! Just call there and ask for a guy named Ralph. Tell him Devin sent ya! He'll even hold it for you! I almost went to pick it up yesterday but my credit union will not finance out of state sales. Goodluck! Maybe we'll pass each other on the 14fwy someday, I live in Lancaster.
