GZire - Thanks for the links, very helpful. I do wash my car at least once a week, but live on the beach and airport is nearby. Will start waxing every two/three months as you suggested. Would you tell me anymore about Zaino? Besides the intial coating put on by the dealer, do you do the 6 month reapplication (through dealer), or do you only use the Zaino, and which products? Since you live on an island, any probs with this environmental stuff? On Maui and the Big Island last month, saw no G35 Coupes on Maui and only one on the Big Island.

Heather - Glad Dealer is taking care of you. Mine probably thinks I'm just another neurotic female.[]

Ok, if rail dust is such a big problem...wouldn't Infiniti realize this by now and make sure the cars are protected from that during transit?

GZire...that is not the same as the "bird poop" problem you have is it?

Dani,

I found this and I think it's worth checking out. I'm going to do some more searching myself.

Look on the 3rd page...#4 C. (Not sure if using clay is a good idea).

Robb definitely not the same as the (very/extremely small bird) insect poop problem I have. My stuff is yellow poop. The mysterious creatures try but they cannot get through my car cover.[boxing] (at least when I have it on)

Dani, never used the Lex. Used Mothers and other waxes then settled on the Zaino. Zaino lasts longer when compared to waxes and have yet to hear anything bad about it. Initial prep was a bear (wash to strip old wax off / clay bar to prep paint / rewash / Z5 with ZFX / Z6 / Z2 with ZFX / Z6). The ZFX cuts the drying time on the Z2 & Z5 to practically nothing. Polishing up the car is very easy, no hard wax haze (you don't run into that problem with a lot of the current waxes either). Been about 3 months since the last application (still holding up) so I'll probably be doing two coats this weekend. My car's silver so I'll probably stick to the Z2 only from this point.

Zaino has got a good (and fanatical) following, but so do other waxes. I think the real important thing is just to maintain the finishes on our cars regularly.

FYI - I use these microfiber towels when detailing the G:

Yeah, I bought my car around Montreal too and noticed quickly some orange spots on my dark gray "03" G35 trunk. I decided to live with it a long time ago since the situation didn't get worst. You see it only when you wash the car. The paint job is a shame. I think more often about the white chips on the hood and black chips on the front bumper...
