Norinn - the G's have exhibited tire wear issues, albiet not as much as the 350Z's. For example, there is a TSB for 350Z tire feathering but none for the G. If you search this forum for 'tire feathering' you will find a thread I staarted with links to helpful G35 tire wear problem links.

GZire ... I wouldn't expect a response ... this topic started back in May and that was Norinn's first and only post it appears. I was about to ask about the slicks then realized they'll never reply. Slicks in Canada ... imagine if you waited too long to take them off after summer ... [shake]
I started seeing orange "rust-like" spots on the hood, roof, trunk and door about three weeks ago. Been getting worse since. Tried extra effort during hand washing, no help. Went to dealership, they thought it was sap, so encouraged me to wax it. Waxed with Meguire's two nights ago, no help. Today I have an appointment to get it deetailed.
Are we looking at really bad quality paint jobs?
Heather, what feedback did you have when you asked around at body shops?
New to forum, appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Dani,
First of all welcome to the forum! I still haven't gone to the body shops. (I've been sick and haven't left the house much) I was hoping to wash the car today and go tomorrow. The one thing I noticed about my car was that there are a few little nicks in the paint on the trunk that are rusted. Have you noticed anything like that on yours? Let me know how the detailing went.
As soon as I find something out I'll post! (hopefully by tomorrow)

That's definately it! Thanks Robb411 for finding that information. I wonder if detailing will be enough? I'm going to print this information out and take it to the dealership next week.

Thanks Robb411 for the pictures. I took pictures when I dropped my car off, but too lazy to transfer them right now.
The Dealer told me the red spots are from "industrial fallout." I don't know if I believe this. Had a QX4 prior to the G35, lived in same beach location, had no spots show up on that paint job, had the car for almost 5 years.
Have had the coupe for 6.5 months, spots showed up 3 weeks ago and got worse evey day.
Only solution, per Dealer, get wax job every 3 months, detail with clay and orbitz (?) if want to do it myself.
The other is get the Lex protection when you purchase the car. They are seeing if after detailing the Lex people will agree to put it on after the fact.
FEEDBACK PLEASE before I pay $60 for the detail. Heather, did you have to pay???? Gotta go read the warranty.

They told me they would take care of it. I also have a chip in the paint and they said they would take care of that as well. So no...I'm not paying. (I've only had my car 3 weeks now and I noticed the problem within the first week after getting it.)

Heather, sounds like you got a good dealer on your hands.[thmsup]
Dani, ordinarily I would say it sounds like you got a crappy dealer on your hands, however based on the time it took the problem to show up (6 months), it looks like the dealer might be right. The dealer's "solution" looks to be ordinary maintenance of the vehicle. Claying the car that often might be overdoing it a bit if you are washing the car regularly. However, waxing the car 4 times a year is reasonable for any vehicle and might actually be a bit on the low side depending upon the conditions your car is exposed to.
Best of luck on getting resolution on your car Dani.
