Default "Service Engine Soon" Warning Light

I have 5500 miles on my DG WL 6MT. The car drives like a dream and I couldn't be happier. The "service engine light" came on at about 5300 miles. The Navigation computer said it could be as simple as the gas cap not being turned tight enough, however, I always make sure that it is tight. Nevertheless, hoping it was as simple as that I gave the cap an extra turn two clicks. The computer also said that the light might not go off for a couple of trips. Well after a few trips and the light sill on I brought it to a local Nissan dealership (closest Infiniti dealership 1 hr away). They hooked it up to their diagnostic computer which revealed the following message "EVAP SMALL LEAK" [PO442]
The Nissan mechanic said that he has seen this a couple of times with the 350ZX and that the computer needs to be reprogrammed b/c nissan made such a "tight engine". I checked out the Infiniti Technical Service Bulletins on their website and there is a bulletin related to this problem: ITB02054

I will be taking it to Infiniti next week, I will give an update on this issue after they have a look at it.

Infiniti gave it the once over and found nothing wrong. They stated that my '04 6MT had the latest software available so the service bulletin that made reference to the reprogramming does not apply to my car. They state that it was probably the gas cap and nothing more. Better safe than sorry. As an aside they gave me an '04 G35 sedan as a loaner. It drove smooth and fast, but I couldn't wait to get back in my 6MT[]

I think its your sensors.

Nissan/Infiniti's tend to have this sensor problem. I know I did. I have Nissan Altima. My check engine light came on... and it turned out that the sensor wasnt registering correctly.
