I currently have a 2001 IS300, had it since early 2001 and the lease is up at the end of June. I like the G35 Coupe, i think it looks really nice so i am definitely going to look into it. I am wondering if there are any things i should know, such as defects, problems with the car and any opinions on the car. also are there many aftermarket parts out for it yet, or are they still mostly under development. thanks for the info
I've been driving my G for 15 month and I have no rock chips on my paint

I'm baffled by this. I got several chips on the bumper on the drive home from the dealership. By three months later I had about 70. Due to a freak mishap at around that time (not my fault) I had my bumper replaced and repainted. Now, 8 months later, there are only a very few chips, and almost all are on the lower part of the bumper where they're relatively unnoticeable.
The factory paint is clearly exceptionally vulnerable. The mystery is that some drivers report very few rock chips (none in your case!). Perhaps you do most of your driving on low speed roads or lightly trafficked highways?
I've had my G since January and the front bumper paint chips are starting to become a significant concern for me. I haven't counted them, but there are way too many. I don't do alot of highway driving either.

Do you drive 15MPH?
Do you wear coke bottle glasses?
Just kidding man but wow you are lucky with no chips. I have 5 above the clear bra from my trip to Boston and Portland Maine a few weeks ago.
