Default Odometer backlight

Hi. Now that my 06 G35 coupe is passed 100k miles I am starting to see small things go bad. The latest, my odometer backlight keeps going from bright to off (even when off you can still read the mileage and trip but not as much contrast or bright). Nothing else on the front panel seems to be affected as all other lights on dash are working as they should. The backlight on the odometer will go from bright to off even when the card is not in motion so don't know if it is a short or loose connection. Suggestions anyone? Thanks.

It's probably a bad connection or a bulb that's going out. The instrument cluster uses little bulbs. You can replace them.

Here is a how to on removing the instrument panel. 2003-2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe Instrument Cluster Removal Procedure Video | Infinitihelp.com

Thanks Gilley for your reply but the video is of a 2003 model and not 2006 which is different and plus it just shows how to take it apart which is something I have been an expert at since I was like 3 years old...usually the problem is putting it back together and locating the bulbs. I guess I will just take it to the dealer after all. probably not worth my time anyhow to do it myself. Thanks though for the help.

I'm pretty the 05+ cluster has LEDs so they won't really burn out like filament bulbs.

Take it to an auto parts store like NAPA and ask them what they think is going on. They might just need to replace a fuse or something. That's where I would start. They will be willing to run out to the parking lot and take a look at it for free.

Check the fuse. Might be burning out.

I'm going to assume you've been servicing and checking the car regularly of course. I second just visiting a dealer and getting things checked out for the peace of mind. It's no secret that manufactured items like to go kaput right after warranties expire. Good luck in getting it diagnosed mate!

Default still not as bad as the ghost in my drivers seat

Good luck. My drivers seat moves on it's own whenever it wants. Bout to swap that bi@tch out with a corbeau.

In your case you could find a cluster from a wrecked G and swap it. Just another route.
