Default Valve Cover gasket DIY

I'm thinking I'm just going to take a stab at it myself and was wondering if any of you guys have done it yourself, and if you have any suggestions or tips. I've been reading up on it all day and I feel pretty confident doing it myself.

Just thought I'd get some more insight!

Thanks!

I'm not planning on doing it any time soon. I want to see how difficult it is.

The whole valve cover? We don't have separate gaskets. Or do you have a 37?

Ive done it to the passenger side after i cracked the valve cover myself when i changed out my spark plugs myself. I made the mistake of using a power drill to remove AND put back in the valve cover screws.

Needless to say i over tightened it and cracked it. Lesson learned i guess, i now have a set of magnetic sockets. I had to use the drill to get the screws back in because otherwise i was dropping the screws left and right into the engine bay trying to get them in the screw holes.

I bought both valve covers and only did the cracked side only. Took about 3 hours maybe, putting the gasket on the valve cover and let dry was a bitch. The worst part was the last valve cover screw in the far back left facing the firewall. Its just very difficult to get a socket that fits to loosen it, I now own one of those flexible socket cords because of this. had to do 1/4" turns with a wrench about 100 times to get it out.

I suggest you invest in ratchet wrenches. They work wonders

Stillen - I have ratchet wrenches, but this one bolt im talking about has about a 4mm clearance between the bolt head and the valve cover. the ratchet wrenches are much wider than a socket wrench which wouldnt even fit. The nissan techs must have some special socket attachment to get to this one.

I just want to clarify something - If we dont have separate gaskets, why am I seeing valve cover gaskets being sold without the cover?
I need to do this to my G as well.
