I'm going to have to disagree with ya on that one, lippy. Public roads full of other cars are not the places to learn your car's limits.

I should have phrased myself differently. I was suggesting that this would be with normal and not aggressive driving. You should always save aggressive driving for the track or closed circuits. I didn't mean it in a tail-whipping, rubber-burning kind of way.

I guess I am too firm of a disbeliever in the VDC.

And I am probably the opposite.

I just past 1200 miles a few days ago, so I'm pushing it a little and getting use to the driving dynamics. All in all I'm very satisfied. Getting a pop charger and z-tube on Wed. I think I'll be getting a Borla exhaust next with my tax refund.
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

Having driven many different sports cars in the past, I must admit that this car (although just a luxury sports coupe) has some amazing characteristics when it comes to the driving dynamics. Every day I learn a little more about the cars limits etc. However, if I may suggest the best way to put a big dent in the learning curve for this car is to take the VDC off and tool around in an empty parking lot for about an hour. Also, I would recommend driving with VDC off when it is dry out, so you can notice just how easy the rear end can be to kick out. It is always safe to know exactly what your car CAN and CAN'T do in case some sort of emergency should ever arise.
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

I've turned off VDC and had some fun several times. The handling, oddly enough, is somewhat reminiscent of my old Trans Am WS6 except the rear isn't as heavy. Rarely do I try anything on public roads. However, there was this hair pin turn that I JUST had to take since the roads were empty. My friend was following way too close in his Honda Accord (probably trying to push me). With the G being a rear-drive car, I was able to drift in and out of this turn very easily leaving him behind. And I have an automatic mind you. My friend was considering getting the new Acura TL, but now I think I've sucessfully convinced him to get a G (at least the sedan).

All I can say is that my friend has had his G20 for years and it's been low maintenance and another friend swears at this bimmer every couple of weeks.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

Oh yea, definately. All the G20s from g20.net are holding up perfectly, our cars are even rated some of the most reliable cars around. Hopefully the G35 can continue that trend for the "G" name.

I would deffinately put the G close to the CLK55 AMG. I have driven my fathers AMG and My coupe definately is not shamed by it. I think it is a great car for the money.

I have owned Audi's and BMW's. My Audi was all junk in terms of
reliability. My E36 M3 was decently reliable within the first
4 years (while still under warranty). But as soon as the warranty
expired, things started breaking left and right. I've spent
thousands of dollars fixing it before getting rid of it.

As for the G35, it's hard to say because I just got it for around
half a year. But the gearbox and clutch feel flaky, and I'm
worried that they will go soon.

Mercedes and BMW have a fantastic reputation but the reality is quite different. They're far from Japanese reliability at this point.

Listen my dear friend,

the majority of the public if given the chance, would still buy a M3,CLK55 AMG, Lexus Sc430, and not a G35 if that is your intended message.

My wife had a BMW 325i 4 dr sedan mt and I drove it a lot, and my G35 '03.5 6mt is MUCH more fun to drive. It is faster, handles better and is as good or more reliable than the Bimmer. And costs a whole lot less at inspection time.

Cannot speak to BMW, Mercedes or Lexus comparisons to the Infiniti. I always felt they were a bit over priced for what you can get in other vehicles like the Infiniti.

As far as reliability, I have had 5 Nissan's before moving up to the Infiniti line. All vehicles performed well except for the last Maxima, it was eating oxygen sensors on a random basis.

Glad it was still in warranty!
