since the weather has warmed up in the NE i have been driving my G with the windows/moonroof down. i have noticed, at low speeds, i am sometimes here this click-click sound. i can't identify what it is? it sounds like it is coming from the passenger rear? has anyone experienced this? i only have 2000 miles, and no problems.
I also hear a similar click at low speeds. I think that my clicking usually only happens immediately after the clutch is fully released and when I'm accelerating slowly. I'll take a test drive today and report back if I hear it again.

matt, what state are you from?
Im not positive if this is the same clicking but it may because it is simply a clicking sound I hear and I believe its coming from the underbody. the only thing I can think of is the expansion/contraction occurring due to high heat from when you are pressing the gas and coasting. Im assuming you hear it when you are stopped at a stoplight. You had probably just downshifted causing rpms to go up. But then again I could probably be wrong. Im not a service technician after all.

Matt, I have no idea what is causing the noise. I went for a spin today and heard the click once when I gave it a moderate amound of gas while going slowly in 1st gear and again when I backed off of the gas again. I'm no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems like it could be something loose in the drive shaft or maybe loose lug nuts. There are some pretty bright folks on this forum; I'm sure that some of them will have some ideas. In the meantime, I'll try to listen more closely to determine when else it happens.

Sounds like a 6 speed thing. I doubt that it is loose lug nuts, unless it has something to do with the Brembos. I'm no mechanic either, but maybe it has something to do with the U joints or something around that area.

ckforensic, yes you nailed on the head!! It is when I step on the throttle, and then let off. I can hear a clicking noise. Has anyone notified a dealer/mechanic? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
u guys hear it in first gear only when u accelerate slowly then push in teh clutch and then something clicks as the engine slows down?? if thats what you are hearin then i told my dealership adn they said not to worry about it and its been serviced since then and nothing was found wrong so don't worry...just our G showing its personality

i took the cluth out of the equation when just driving in 1st. when i step on the throttle i hear it, and when i let of i hear it again. granted when i step on it, and the let off the suspension of the car moves. (as we know how torqy 1st is) i think the clicking may be the suspension making noise??
Matt,
I finally got the clicking sound fixed. Apparently, they didn't torque the rear axle enough at the factory (only in the 6MTs I think). The service manager said that they fix a couple of these per day and it took them only about 10 minutes to fix it. The clicking was bothering me so much that I got to the point where I couldn't stand driving with my passenger side window down unless the stereo was cranking!
Hope this helps!
Chet
