Hello,

Next to the odometer, there is a button that sticks out. Push it once- it should cycle through ODO, trip A, trip B. Hold the button to reset your trip meter.

I bought my car from a guy in CA. When I hold it down I get a chilled glass of chardonnay.

I believe hes talking about the shift light.

Set that to the desired RPM you want your shift light to blink

so, what is the draw with the shift light, i would think my shifting would depend on how spirited i wanted my drive to be...?

Setting the shift light to 8000 is effectively turning it off.

If you wanted a reminder to always shift by a certain point, set it appropriately.

I think it starts blinking 500 before the set point then goes solid at the set point.

I suppose under ideal conditions with a very consistant driver using the shift light set to the sweet spot for light throttle , moderate driving, it could yeild a slight mpg advantage.

or- remind someone who forgets to shift,

or- train a driver who is inexperienced in knowing when to shift.

Here is a picture of an old VW speedo like the 1968 I had ... see the hash marks for showing when to shift.

It's just one thing they added so the owner can say "cool i dont have to buy a tach with a giant yellow traffic light in my face"

=P Bach has the right idea though. Keeping it at 8k is basically off. From the factory it should be 6700 i believe or something like that.

If you know how to drive a manual, you shouldn't need it. Maybe if you're helmeted up and tracking the car, but I think it's more of a gimmick than anything.
