Hi everyone, my name is Rob and i just recently joined the forum. Been reading posts over the past few days. Within the next 6-8 months I will be buying a 2003 5AT coupe. My stepdad bought it brand new as a midlife crisis car and loves it, however hates it in the winter and doens't like the high payments. I plan on buying it from him once i can save up a little bit (i'm 23, computer programmer). I see in a lot of posts that people say 2003.5, are there 2 versions of that year or is that just when it was released? It has every package/option except for the navigation and aero kit and is the desert platinum color. I love the car and will probably keep it stock for a bit, but would like to do some minor mods. Just wanted to introduce myself and find out about the 03.5 stuff. Thanks alot!
I'll post some pics when i get them, another question though too (beside from the hole 2003.5 thing). How much of a difference is it w/the brembo brakes? should i look into getting those for it?
There were two models in 2003, the 2003 and 2003.5. There were only slight cosmetic differences; for example, the 2003.5 has no trunk handle, Sat radio harness is standard, and many small bugfixes. In software terms, it's version 1.1 []
i'm curious if my step dad's (soon to be mine) is the .5 version. Not exactly sure what you mean about trunk handle. Does anyone have any pictures or anything that I would be able to easily identify which is it?
there is no real difference between an 03 and 03.5 coupe if it is automatic...the 03.5 manual transmission has a slightly difference center console with an armrest....i have an 03.5 with teh updated armrest but no SAT wiring (i don't htink). anyway, hope taht helps. welcome to the forum
I know that dealerships added the new center consoles on some of the last 03's they had on the lots at the time. At least mine in New Orleans did. Maybe somebody who is a little less lazy can check out if their 03.5 has SAT prewiring or not?
