Question 06 OEM Headlights....

I just picked some 06/07 OEM Headlights from Perry Infiniti for my 05 G. They come with bulbs but not ballasts. Are they plug n play? If I took them to the dealer can they simply install them?

I'm also considering getting 6K bulbs but don't know if its worth it. I like a hint of blue/white and don't really like the look of 4300k stock bulbs. Will the D2S bulbs look any different than the D2R? Are Phillips/Osram worth the extra cost compared to eBay bulbs?

Thanks!

6K you will like. The ballasts from your 03-05 will work fine. No difference in color from 03 to 06. Difference is the light output, reflector (03-05) to projector (06-07). Color remains the same, just much better visibility with the more recent models. I run 6K (06 projectors) and it i white with a tinge of blue. If you go up from there it might look cool (blue w/a ring of white), but road visibility decreases.

Not sure of the exact brand. I get them here for the last 5 years. Local to me so I go to the place. Sure there are "better" brands, but I have always had pretty good luck here. Prices are very fair and you know you're not buying from some random eBayer. Here is the link:

Premium Quality HID Conversion Kit, HID Bulbs Replacement, HID Ballast, & other auto accessories parts FREE SHIPPING

Oh here is my setup BTW:

These are O6 projectors, HID Fog light conversion, SMT LED city/running light and sidemarkers and SMT blinker. 6K color (almost pure white with a tinge of bluish purple. The best comparison I can give you is BMW color. The higher you go on color temp you'll hit more Blue (8k) and less white. More purple (10k -12k).
The the higher the color temp, the LESS light output and results in decrease visibility. 6K is even slightly past best light output/visibility. 6k is a good trade off of being nice looking (no yellowish color) with negligibly less visibility.

Nice ...
I like the brilliant white fog and hi that matches the low. If you or anyone can source them and post the info, I'll end up doing that.

Here is the source for the conversion kits. I just went with the slim kit:

HID Conversion Kit, SLIM HID Kit, Xenon HID Headlamp

Headlight:
HID BULB Replacement

Sidemarker/citilights:
LED SMD Bulbs 194/168/T10 (pair) WHITE

Turnsignals are 7440:
I got these on eBay. One thing, you make need resistor to eliminate the hyperbink effect. Also, they are "off" until activated in 06 projectors (just caught it right in the photo) and "on" and blinks when activated.

I consider that option as well but maybe if I get the right 'white' I'll be more happy. The practicality of needing/using fog lights here is way low on the scale for me. We often get fog rolling in late night /overnights but I'm never out driving in it. I suppose the yellow helps in the gray hazy thunderstorms though.

Also, since getting back to motorcycling, I consider being seen (in any vehicle) a very important attribute. Yellow helps any time /any day here in this country because it's abnormal. In Europe, no so much.

You can pay anywhere from $400-$450 plus OEM 03 reflectors. $700-$750 used. I could get a new set for $900, but the going rate can be as high as $1,200. I was looking on CL and I came across an Ad for the first price I mentioned. Came to find out he had 30+ used and 30+ new in box.

That is a righteous pick up! I wouldn't expect to find that very often. It also depends on market. I was following this one post on Driver, "your OEM O6 Sport bumper + $100 for a BO Original Kuruma Z front bumper perfect fit and BO paint. It was in the Northeast and took someone almost 7 days to jump on this. In SoCal, this would have be gone in 10 minutes. Go Figure.
