Default Aftermarket Dash Install Kit

03 G35 Coupe... Adding a JVC DVD/Nav (don't remember model #). It is a double din and I read where you can not cut the bottom half out of the original dash and install an aftermarket radio, CORRECT? Well how many different kits are out there and which is better if so. I have seen JDM and Metra. Are there more? Little expensive for what is all to it, don't you think? I am pretty new to the site but it is great for all type of info. Thanks Gilley for your post on wheels/tire sizes. Just added some Vertini Hennessey 20x8.5 front 20x10.5 rear. Love them!

There are no other kits. The dash kit is very pricy for the infiniti. I would not get an aftermarket deck unless your cd's are jammed or your radio is not working. The stock infiniti amp is not bad and the dash kits are very expensive because they are the include the climate control. If you do an aftermarket deck you should add an amp to power your speakers.

I am getting the CD ERR. Yep cd player does not work and my favorite cd is stuck in there. So I have already got the new double din deck. Plus I do not have NAV and the deck does. Yea yea I have NAV on my phone but so much easier when it is right there in front of you on a 7inch screen that you do not have to hold in your hand. So I can not cut the original one? Also what do you mean by say add an amp. Not looking for anymore than I have now with sound. So the JVC will not produce the same or better than factory?

The JDM kit costs more but it's of better quality than the Metra.

When I was driving today, I was thinking why isn't there some place that just sale an operable AC control button inserts and just detach all (radio and AC) buttons and panel from the original dash. Just a thought.... I can't find JDM at all. Only on ebay. Is there a website for them? Also, once I install the aftermarket radio, do I lose the steering wheel controls for the radio? I asked earlier about the amp... Will the JVC radio NOT sound good or better than stock?

This is why you need a control board. It's all one piece with the radio boardd.

You need a PAC audio steering wheel control module.

You can connect the JVC to the Bose amp. If you don't likr the sound you can add a real amp.

I see what you mean with the board and all. Seems like they would just sale a board for the AC and you could buy that and use your original dash after pulling this board out. Again just a thought....

They do sell just a board for the AC but you can't use your original dash trim piece without it looking like crap.

Just had one install in my G, you wouldn't even know it didn't come with the car if I didn't tell you, that's how good it looks.

You had the JDM or the Metra kit installed?

The Metra kit has grey buttons and I have read about the AC controls going out. I have not read about the JDM AC controller going out.

Such is the depressing trend nowaday. They don't make it easy at all for you to upgrade the stereo.... I understand OEM stereo gets better, but they are still miles behind the aftermarket.....

Don't know which genius it is in infiniti engineering who decide to make the A/c and radio board all one.....

That said, I have the cheapo metra kit. works fine so far. But still expensive at 150 bucks.

cbr1000rr which kit do you have. A local place here in Dallas area carries the Metra and I went and looked at it yesterday. It is horrible to me. Yea it was like $180 but did not look good at all. The color was off and then like Gilley said the buttons were gray and cheap looking. I am sure it would be fine but I think I want to know more about the JDM. Does anyone have the JDM kit? Please update me on it. I have had my new radio for awhile but have to place my upgrade on hold until I get more info on the JDM kit.
