Default pics of 255's on stock rear rims

Here are some pictures of my newly installed 255/45 R17 on stock 8in rims. I think they look pretty good & add 20cm (0.8in) in width to each side.[]

only put 5-10miles on them so far. Ride, feel & sound are equal. I can still spin them, so 'll let you know after a few more days.

The new Michilin pilot sport tires are much better than the orig. Goodyears. Which I also liked.
Going from 235's to 255's increases the width of 1 tire by a little more than 3/4inch(20mm). Not much on paper, but every little bit helps. Plus the new tires have a different compound, it's a little softer & they stick better. (also will not last as long)
If your front rims are the 7in type(probably) then the answer is NO. The 255's barley fit the 8inch rims on my cuope. But generally the rule of thumb is to stay a little skinner in the front. This decreases rolling resistance. (ie. drag cars)
From the cool view of things, I think wide tires are da' bomb but the 225's on the front look good enough.
I bought them on eBay. They had 100miles on them & came of a 2004 Mercedes SLK. I paid $350(+$80 shipping) for 4 of them!!! Great f-in deal!!! I put 2 on and I'm saving the other 2 for when these are toast.
My next mod is a pop charger & z-tude which are in the mail, on there way to me right now.
Hope this helps, thanks for the interest & i'll continue my update as long as somebody cares to here them!!!

I was considering geting the 255/45/18's for the rears when they wear out but my concern is the OVERALL DIAMETER of the tire will increase which may have some ill affects on acceleration and launching.

use the formula to find out your orig diameter, then select the correct %. 255/%%/18 Or go to 1010tires.com & you can just punch in the #'s & it'll tell you the correct size within 3%. 3% is the generally accepted margin.

Bizz,
You have a couple of choices.
If you keep your current rims. I'd go with 235/50/17 in the back & 225/55/17 in the front. I like & prefer the original rims over any aftermarket rims.(my personal preference) 235's are probably the widest you can go with on your stock rims. 225's are all you'll need in the front.
The other idea is to buy 2, 8inch g35 coupe rear rims & put 255/45/17's on them & put 225/50/17's on your fronts. Tire diameter is almost identical. You can probably get rims on eBay at a good price.
If you get the new rear rims, the 255's are 4cm (1.57inches) wider!!! Each!!! That's big time[rockon]!

oh ya,
If you like the 350z rims they're are always full sets rims & tires for sale on eBay. Everytime a Z person "upgrades" their tires they have those spare sets for sale. Diddo for any G "upgraders" too.

Good luck & be patient good deals are always poppin up!!

-JIM

was just surfing eBay & saw 4 chromed coupe rims with rubber included. pretty nice looking if you like shiny chrome! type in "g35 tires" & you'll get several auctions, look for the right auction. it has 5 days left...

With that 255's in the back... do you feel any change in fuel economy??

I'm sure more rubber on the ground means more traction but I sure it also requires some more power.

kango,
Not really, actually I just starting using amoco/bp ultra 93+. The sh*t is practically clear. It immediatly gave me 2-3mpg. It's expensive, but worth it. Plus any loss of fuel economy[:O] would be offset by all the extra traction[thmsup].

baileyrx,
Isn't Ultra @ 94 octane?

Do anyone else put Ultra fuel in their G35 coupe?
Any feedback on how it is?
