Default Timing Belt Question

Sorry, new to this forum and fairly new since I got my G35 Coupe. Do we have a timing belt or is it a chain? When in the recommended service to change this? I have an 05 with 105K miles, a lot I know but all highway and has been very well maintained but obviously standard wear etc needs to be addressed. Should it be replaced before any issues based on current mileage and I don't have any service records on it to know whats been done other then what I have done.

Our G's use timing chains and to my knowledge, they will hardly ever need to be replaced. If you're worried about wear and tear, find a reliable mechanic and have them inspect the vehicle. Is your car completely stock?

From what I understood we need to get the timing chains replaced at 100K...

The G has a timing chain that does not need to be serviced or replaced unless it breaks, but I have not heard of that as being a common problem.

Wouldn't it cause some pretty serious damage if your engine is running and it does break?
