Default Wife is thinking about a G35

My wife for quite some time now has mentioned about wanting to purchase one of these G35's. I have yet to take myself on a testdrive and before I do, I would like to ask the community that already owns one some basics.

Like first, is there anything that is a "must have" shoulda woulda coulda on this car? How is the general driving experience? Does it seem reliable so far?

I am going to be trading in the 2000 Mazda Millenia we have for the next vehicle that she will be driving ...and this type of car would be a step up.

So please assist?

I will contiune to read the forums to gain some insight on this car.

The real question is if your wife will truly appreciate all the glory of the esteemed G35 coupe. My wife wouldn't care about all the bells and whistles of perfomance and luxury of this car, therefore, I wouldn't get her one of these. She is the type of person that would enjoy a nice and comfortable drive like a ES300 or an accord coupe or maxima or something like that.

If you're wife wouldn't take advantage or truly worship the G like other drivers do on this and other forums, I wouldn't get her this car (unless you plan on snaking it every weekend to take it out to the coutryside!)

You know what I drive....

The must have is the Premium package. I would also recommend the performance wheel/tire package.

The general driving experience is near perfection in my opinion. The interior is surprisingly roomy and comfortable. The suspension is a little tight, but thats what you get with a car that performs like the G.
So far the breaks are the only thing that have messed up (they squeek a little), but I get free new ones any time before 3 years or 36,000 miles. I'm not sure if you know about this or not, but Infiniti realized that alot of G35 drivers were having break problems, so they sent us a letter saying that they would replace our breaks with better ones. Other than that it seems like a pretty solid car. I have 12,000 miles on mine, and I've had it since July 2003.

You can say that again.

Welcome to 6MT, and I look forward to hearing about the test drive. I bet you'll love it and buy it for yourself.

It would truely be for her. We would be looking at the 4 door version and possibly the all wheel drive. She does apprciate the handling of a good car and enjoys the power (reasons why I rarely let her drive my car). The Millenia S has been a good car but working on 70,000 miles now and its starting to show its age.

I do not know how much I would drive it, I hate getting in our SUV when we go out with friends cause of the differnce in power vs. my car. This would be her's to toat around her friends in and maybe an evening car that we would keep the classy look on.

As for the C32, it handles pretty good, not a BMW M series in handling, but holds it own. Power wise though I got the M3, just not the M5

If you dont mind my asking, why did u choose the c32 over the m3? To me, for the price, I'd take the m3...my friend just got one and it drives like a dream. The c32 is pretty quick but for a performance car like that I'd really have to go with a 6 speed. I was looking at the c32s before I got my G and although I never got to test drive one, I drove the older style e55 which has comparable performance. Those cars definitely have some pop to em.

My wife could not have cared less about automobliles - she did not know the difference between a Jaguar and a Jeep.

Then she took a test drive in a G35 coupe.

She watches The Speed Channel now. I'm serious!

This is a very satisfying car to drive, admire, own. It's gorgeous, easy to drive; a road-hugging sweet-throated very quick monster when you push her and yet you feel like a bloody genius because the decision to buy the car was so obviously savvy that there simply are no regrets.

Enormous power yet a liquid cat-like grace. The car has it too.

With Renntech Pully

The only other thing I have done to it was electronically delimited. It is no longer limited by the 155 limiter.

Main reason was the service I receive with Mercedes. When I purchased the ML320 the local Mercedes dealer has worked with us through anything that had come up on the ML. Even when turning it in for an oil change, another mercedes of like character was handed over for us to contiune with our daily business and come back to get our car. This contiunes to the day with the C32, when I take it in for even the short service, they offer an alike car (normal) a S430/S500. More than anything though is that tri star... something just pulls me toward it.

My question is why an ML320? Those have the worst reliablity of any car on the road, according to Consumer Reports. But you make up for it with the C32, so I'll let this one slide
